Truk
No sign of the main Japanese carrier force. The submarine Swordfish patrols off Truk monitoring ship movement.

Other
A large effort begins to crack the Japanese code. It will be weeks before progress can be expected. Sending a sub and DD groups from San Diego to Australia for convoy protection and attack. They should arrive next turn.

South China
Poor weather conditions continue to buy China time to dig in around Changsha. Japanese forces are slowly moving forward but avoiding battle in this weather.

Papua New Guinea
Jayapura and Wewak are occupied, further solidifying Japan’s holdings north of the Owen Stanley Mountain range. Japanese landing craft are in short supply so advancement in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands may come to a halt.

South China
A slight improvement in weather conditions but still not conducive to offensive operations. Upkeep for the Southern China Army is growing which has failed to generate results. Better weather conditions will either yield an offensive or the syphoning of troops for other operations.

I need to handle this area better.

Builds
The opening offensive is grinding to a halt. Mass amounts of territory have been captured and garrisons must be put in place. An additional 10 Landing ships are ordered to prepare for a May offensive in the Solomons.

Reinforcements are reduced and will be more selectively distributed. Oil production and transport to the mainland has increased noticeably. DEI is not 100% online but will be in a couple of weeks. More troops are needed for garrison duty so forces may be pulled from mainland China.

Pacific Theater of Operations
The US tactical air group in Davao evaporated due to a lack of supply. Japan is now firmly in control of the oil producing regions of the DEI and Borneo.

Truk
The Swordfish located the Kido Butai with all six carriers still in the fleet but was caught by screening vessels before commencing an attack. It escaped with damage and valuable information on the location of the Japanese main fleet.

South Pacific
Japanese subs attacked the South Pacific convoy lanes sinking a MM and an escort. I should have used destroyers to help protect my convoy lanes as I can ill afford to lose MM with my low inventory. I will send DDs on patrol immediately even though all three raiding subs sustained damage and may retreat for supplies and repairs. The subs can resupply in the Marshalls however Truk has the closest repair facilities. This is why Fiji is so vital to securing the South Pacific convoy route.

I believe there were three attacks made by the same submarine fleet – one against each convoy. (Canada to UK, and US to Australia and to New Zealand). However, I don't know for sure how this combat works. I stack my subs to spread out the hits and this may cause the “three-attack” scenario.

The Mississippi BB Div will arrive in San Diego in two weeks. I will build a CV task force and steam to Australia next turn. I am worried about Fiji.

Builds
US Production is allocated heavily to reinforcements as they cost less than creating new units. Plus, naval units are still being repaired after the Pearl Harbor raid.

Convoy allocation had to be adjusted due to the loss in MM. I am sending the max possible production with a little oil to Australia and New Zealand. I want to build their aircraft to full strength and have some oil reserve for defensive use.

Burma
General Yamashita has taken over the Japanese forces in Burma and has created the 26 Army group. Immediate attacks on the Burma line create a breakthrough which is exploited the 124th infantry force. The Burma Road is cut. The 26th Army is due to rail into the area next month. The Indian National Army created in Thailand has already crossed the Salween River. Additional air support is needed. The objective is to cross the Irrawaddy River and cut supplies to China and oil to India.
