There was heavy air combat in the south, and Kiev was probed lightly, but otherwise all was quiet. Hitler ordered the end of the summer offensive and preparation for the coming winter to begin.

The red army is preparing for the counteroffense. Snow falled at the end of the week. Our small armored forces in reserve changed positions and went a bit closer to the front for offensive operations. We hope the germans will notice our pitty counterattacks if the real bad weather starts.
No action this week.

As snow fell across the front, Barbarossa was called to an end and plans begun for further offensives in 1942. In the meantime, it is hoped that the troops will survive the Communist winter offensives in good shape.
Losses were "lost" in an airplane accident due to icing.

There must be some information leak in the Stavka. The german centre army group flees to the west with great speed. We planned our main offense here:( No more exposed centre then... But the traitor will be caught!
Our troops still remain in their strong defensive lines, the enemy will be only attacked from mid november.
We dropped some propaganda papers to the germans with this:
"Germans there is still 5-6 weeks to flee! Use the time well! Your Luftwaffe will not save you, and your centre army comrades already understood this and began to flee! Join them!"
No losses this week.

Our brave soldiers are digging in to prepare for the coming winter onslaught of the Red hordes. Further attacks on Kiev may be suspended as casualties are mounting and the defenders are getting stronger.

Herr Goering was sent to the front to arm planes in atonement for his failures with the Luftwaffe. This seemed to light a small fire in the pilots who struck enemy airfields and knocked out numerous out of date planes. Otherwise, with mud and rain taking over the front, things were basically quiet.

The Luftwaffe counterstrike has decesively defeated our air force, so we had no choice but to keep our heads close to the ground and be a very small target. No action this turn.

p.s: I have a small problem deceiding my strategy for the winter. Should I throw all tank armies to the south to get close to Ploesti (risky) or should I use them to throw back the germans closest to Moscow? Any suggestions are welcome:)

OKH says to drive in the south. The river lines will help your attacks. But today, little action happened, except raids on Kiev which continues to hold out like a rock.

this is my first post here :p
i only have experience against Ai ,so maybe some of my opinion seems ridiculars:D
I think it is terrible for german if Kiev is still controlled by Soivet in 12/41
but since leningard has been captured ,the situation seems not too bad
I wonder that has every factory in Leningard been moved ?
I think soivet aways move factories at south(especially in Kiev) first ,than leningard. am i right?
ps: i come from china. My English is not so good.... :p So,did i make my means clear?

I understand you very well and my english is not the best one either
I'm playing a 41 PBEM as German as well, and I have to say that taking Leningrad can be easier than crossing the Dniepr. I had great difficulties trying it, and if my opponent would not have decided to retreat from Kiev, it could have been a hard fight to take it

I was surprised early on that Kiev held on so well, but I was concentrating on driving deep into the bend to the south. Now I am afraid its fall is impossible, as I can't bomb it due to Soviet air power, etc. Tamas is a great player, and Possum makes the Axis side tougher to play. Kiev could prove to be a major problem for me.

This game isn't easy for German since this is a Possum game. But I hate Possum simply becasue the Roman Numbers always confuses me.
I think Tom1939 did a great job so far especially in the air. Hardly heard of death of a high general in this game, and luckly it's not Manstein or Guderian.
Epic war despite the first page's discussion about screen shot
Keep going.

Hi!
I would have prefered to lose Kiev and hold Lenningrad. My first forces went to south, s my defence there is quite strong. The North was the last front to be strengthened an I paid the prize for it by losing Lenningrad. Rick took it so fast that quite few factories were lost:( Things are getting intresting as I have enough forces left to make the germans uncomfortable:)

second post...
thanks for all the reply
"this is a Possum game...."
i have played PossumsOBWIR v5 . Do you mean this one?
I think German player have two choices in 1941:take Leningard or take Kharkov and kiev. (Since it was Tom1939 ,take Moscow in 11/1941 seems insane :p ) Hard to say whick is batter, but both hard for German......
The advise of Soivet winter action: use every Div ,attack everywhere :p
there are no more good chance to have a 1:1 loss rate against German !! And your I-15/16 T-26/BT will be useless in late 1942. So use them all to kill German inf . don't care of your loss. One more killed in winter ,one less attacker in Summer, many less of your loss later

I will attack with everything:) I have high hopes on my 3 tank armies. They are very strong I would say. And equiped with some kv1E's as well not only crap tanks. I need only one breakthrough to run amok with them. Hopefully there is no german infantry korps which can stop my 3 baddies at once in blizzard, with adequate air support:)

Soivet has three tank armies in 1941? In possum's game there are only three mech cavaly armies :p
Since tank armies only can move three hex per turn in blizzard , i think five stock armies is almost same strong as tank army. God save German infantry corps

Basicaly they are tank armies (with 10 stacking points). Soviets have 4 of them in possum, but Rick killed one early:(
