The most exciting thing to happen is the Luftwaffe scores 2 hits on a British cruiser.

FEBRUARY 14, 1941

A good turn for the U-Boats as 9 MS and an escort are sunk against only 2 U-Boat hits.

FEBRUARY 14 TO MARCH 28, 1941

Nothing happening except the BOA, where over the last 3 turns 26 MS and 2 escorts have been sunk for a cost of 7 hits on my U-Boats. A pretty good exchange I think.

APRIL 11, 1941

4 MS and an escort sunk. The Allies bomb Paris and Berlin causing a total loss of 14 production and losing 8 bomber strength. I had seen the air units massing in SE England, but weren't certain if they were SAC or TAC bombers. Now I know.

APRIL 25, 1941

Only 2 MS sunk. This time the British confine their bombing to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam. 11 production lost and 1 bomber hit.

Current Forces and Casualties. I have built my usual 8 German Armour, 2 Mechanized, 20 large Corps and 3 paras for Barbarossa. There are also 2 Italian Armour and 1 mechanized along with the Hungarians and Rumanians. This leaves me 3 German Mechanized with which to hold off the British.

I am surprised at the low Russian Force Strength. Either Sveint built fewer weak units to build more stronger ones, or else he is saving his production for a massive first turn build.

Tech Advancements

Production. There is pretty much nothing building for Germany except supply trucks. All production over the last few turns has been used to upgrade unit techs and remobilize the infantry.

MAY 9, 1941

Only 3 MS sunk and British bombers inflict 11 production damage on various occupied Cities. The Brits are also on the move in Egypt.

Barbarossa Begins. One difference between Sveint and myself is obvious right away as virtually all of his large corps are fully mobilized.

With the help of a paratrooper I shatter a mechanized in the South. Its only possible escape route was through a battle hex (circled) that at the time of the battle was not yet occupied by one of my units. Does that mean that the mechanized will reappear in a couple turns? I would have thought that battle hexes blocked supply paths, but perhaps not. Does anyone know?

Overall I would say the first turn was only a mixed success. I only destroyed 7 large corps; but I did shoot down a lot of Russian aircraft.

That is too bad. Next time I will have to make sure the retreat is sealed off.

MAY 23, 1941

9 MS and 3 escorts are sunk at a cost of only 2 U-Boat hits. The British have only 179 MS, which is not enough to carry all of its resources and also carry production to Russia. Meanwhile the British damage another 10 production for a cost of only 1 bomber hit.

In North Africa 4 hits are scored on a British CA.

The North Before Moves.

The South Before Moves. As you can see the Russians made several bombing runs at a horrible cost to the Russian airforce.

Part way through my moves in the North I noticed an opportunity to surround 2 Russian Mechanized units. It would require my 11 strength armour to first retreat or destroy the Russian infantry corps. My paras would then drop and assist with an attack to retreat a Russian mechanized.

After the paradrops I had a 4:1 attack on the Russian mechanized, which was a bit risky, but it worked. But was it worth it? I don't really know.
