Update v1.9 - Naval Infantry Units



"The Germans considered them among the best of the Soviet fighting man –
those who often fought with such motivation and eagerness, that even when
annihilated, unlike many in the Red Army units that suffered the same fate,
they tended to take much more of the enemy with them. So much so that
Germans nicknamed them the ‘Black Death’ for their black, formal-like uniforms.
To their countrymen, they were known as the Naval Infantry of the Soviet Union."



Patch notes:
- Added 160 new insignia for Naval Infantry Brigades and Battalions.
Brigades have a golden anchor, battalions silver. To my knowledge, the anchor insignia used is accurate.

Darojax, are rifle divisions, or guard formations up next? Or something else?

Probably Rifle Divisions. I go through each one for awards, specific names etc, and there are quite a lot of them, so taking a while.

v1.10 Patch notes:
- 508 new insignias for Rifle Divisions.

Examples:


All (unless no info found) historical rifle divisions have been researched using russian sources.
If the divisions had any major awards at the start of the 1941 Campaign, they have been added
to the insignia upper right corner. Some also have their origin flag symbol showed in the upper
left corner, like the 201st Latvian Rifle Division for example. Some divisions were awarded the
Honorary Revolutionary Red Banner; these divisions insignias have a red star with extra ray effect,
similar style to some real Honorary Revolutionary Red Banners. In some cases liberties have been
taken adding some extra graphics to insignia (like the 249th Rifle Division formed mostly by
NKVD personnel). Some divisions full names are so long that you barely can read what it says
(or not) on the insignia (if you can read cyrillic). It's unfortunate, but I've tried to make it as
readable as possible, using the current insignia style. If you cannot read the text and want to know
the division full names you can go to the Russian Wikipedia page linked below. There you will find a
list over most Rifle Divisions in the Great Patriotic War. Each page has the full name of the division.

Small amendment! The Polish divisions were called infantry, not rifle!

Right. The game hardcoded names are Pol. Rifle Division. At least the 1st and 2nd Polish IDs have what I believe is somewhat correct name on the insignia though, including the words пехотная дивизия (Infantry Division). I might correct all of them in a later patch, thanks for pointing this out.

It's just that I'm translating Witepedia into Russian and I saw it myself recently. In general, the TOE of these infantry divisions corresponded to the standard Soviet rifle divisions.

You have very cool badges of Soviet units! Excellent and very high quality work from the point of view of the Russian! So far I have not found mistakes in Russian names.

It's just that I myself for the Russian-language Witepedia actively work on information about the Soviet troops on Russian-language sites. If necessary, I can post the current result of my work. My entries in the English Witepedia have been fully translated and work has begun on the Soviet troops absent there. Basically I take information from the Russian Wikipedia, but sometimes there is no necessary information there, so I look for information on websites and forums ..

I just want to say many thanks for your mod, really a great job!
