Fresh off the press! I am proud of this one:

In this video I'll do my best to give you an introduction into Special Move (*) AKA "Magic" Task Forces that the Japanese player can utilize to modify and customize their non-historical first turn. This is one of the most important features of the Japanese campaign and is a must-learn for new Japan players.

Supply Cost, Supply Paths, and Ground Unit Retreating

In this video I will discuss how supply is moved around the map. We will talk about supply cost and how it determines how far and how often supply can be pushed, as well as supply paths and the effects of infrastructure improvements and terrain affect supply paths. Lastly, I will show you how you can determine if a defeated enemy ground unit can retreat based on supply paths.

This was a really great help in understanding the supply process.
I did have one question about using the "5" key to show the white dots that indicate the paths supply can move.
In a pbm game, I can certainly see the white dots when I click on one of my bases and I understand that tells me where supply can move from that base.
Is there any way to see where supply can move for the enemy side? If I click on an enemy controlled base, the white dots do not appear.
It makes sense to me that no info would be available on the enemy's supply paths because of FOW but I thought I would ask the question.

I'm glad the video helped! Unfortunately the "5" key only works for the friendly side, but now that you know how to calculate the supply cost of movement, you could theoretically do the math on your own if you wanted to figure out if an enemy's base or unit could even be supplied.

Kull's Allied Setup Spreadsheet (MUST for New Players!)

In this video I will discuss the absolute most important tool for new players to learn the Grand Campaign: Kull's Allied Setup Spreadsheet.

I'll tell you where to get it, how to use it, and some tips and tricks I've learned to make it easier.

Kull's Spreadsheets:

**EDIT!!**

Guys I made a huge omission about the INDUSTRY section of the Spreadsheet. There's actually something very critical you need to do for Allied industry. There are several industry centers that start damaged at the start of the campaign, namely in China. Building these back will waste thousands of supplies you cannot afford. I recommend going into the industry section at the very start of your setup and selecting ALL repairs off, blanket. The Allies honestly don't need to repair hardly any industry for their campaign so you're safe doing this immediately. Aside from this, I stand by all the other recommendations in the video. Thanks! Thanks man, I appreciate that! I am currently working on another tutorial video, this time a guide to the most common and useful support/tender ships and how to use them in action. I think people will benefit from seeing them used in the UI rather than just reading about it.

By all means watch the video tutorials and read the manual, but you can also learn a lot by reading After Action Reports or watching the video versions of them. Read the discussions on this forum too.
But the biggest boost to learning is to plunge in and try out the game to learn what you DON'T yet know. That will guide you back to the manual and forum searches to answer the questions. I started with the smallest scenarios (Coral Sea battle, Guadalcanal, 1000 Mile War) before starting a Grand Campaign (whole war). Doing that I learned about the interface for giving orders and receiving feedback on your efforts (Combat Reports, Intel Reports, Operations Report, SigInt Reports). The game is so big in scope and detail that it will take 6 months to be comfortable with it and years to feel like you really know what you are doing.

It will help if you think in terms of Grand Overall Strategy, Long Term Goals, Intermediate Goals and Immediate Plans. That could look like this:
GOS(Japan): I can't conquer the whole map but I will try to demolish the British Empire by taking all of India and destroying the British Fleet.
GOS(Allies): We will cause Japanese losses at first and when we get strong enough we will take bases that allow us to bomb Japan into submission.
LTG (1-2 years)(Japan): I will expand far enough to the South and Southeast to protect my flanks but my main efforts will be overland in Burma and amphibious landings at key points in India and Ceylon.
LTG(Allies) (1-3years): Destroy the Japanese carrier fleet and take islands in the Central Pacific (or China, or the Kuriles) within B-29 range of Japan.
IntG(Japan) (6-12 months): Clear Malaya and Southern Burma. Clear Philippines and DEI and establish Air Bases to attack shipping. Fortify the Kuriles.
IntG(Allies) (6-12 months): Secure shipping lanes to Australia and NZ. Expand in the Aleutians. Send aircraft and troops to help Burma and India. Fortify PH, Samoa, Fiji and New Caledonia.
ImmP (Japan) (0-6 months) All efforts to clear the Philippines and take Palembang, Balikpapan and Miri/Brunei to secure oil and fuel routes back to Japan. Interdict fleeing Allied shipping and if reports of Allied combat vessels can localize their position, assemble forces to strike them.
ImmP (Allies) (0-6 months). Decide what ships and units you want to save and which will remain and fight to delay the enemy. Decide which bases you want to try and keep and which you will abandon. Withdraw key units to places where they can take replacements and train. Engage IJN where local superiority can be achieved.
