An empty medium-sized tanker ingested an American submarine torpedo going to Palembang. She won't be repaired until after Singapore is captured.

CVL Shoho arrived and immediately increased her fighters to A6M2 Zeroes from Claudes and increased the squadron size to 21. The Kates on board changed from the B5N1 to B5N2 model.

Yamaguchi's CVL TF sortied east from Attu but did not attack the transports seen at Umnak, so will retire to Hakodate to upgrade the air complement on the 2 CVLs, then return.

Subic Bay was captured by a tank regiment without casualties -
