Australia is Burning - 22 Dec 1941

We are pushing a new good-turn streak in this campaign: 4 consecutive turns that went mostly our way. Today we dropped some steel rain on the villainous Australians and taught them the only way to end the war was complete and total capitulation.

In the Philippines, we get a big break when Hellsen completely abandons a critical base on Luzon.

In Burma, we are poised to take our first base along the road to Rangoon.

Finally, in China, we are pressing forward, but the way ahead is starting to look increasingly perilous as Chinese troops continue to come out of the woodwork like roaches in the dark.

The Fires Rage On (And So Does Weather) - 23 Dec 1941

My two worst enemies have emerged again this turn and ruined everything: Weather and subs. Weather caused critical cancelations to my flight operations and poor bombing accuracy, and an extremely inconvenient Dutch submarine pumped the brakes on another landing operation. I would say our streak of good turns has ended with this day, and I can only hope we can get back on track soon.

Pour Fosters Beer on Sydney's FIRES! - 24 Dec 1941

The weather cleared up today and Kido Butai was able to get another raid off, this time even more devastating than before. The fires from Sydney can be seen for dozens of miles as the flames glisten off the night sky clouds. Rear Admiral Yamaguchi sits on the bridge of Akagi admiring the work of his brave and expert pilots.

In the Dutch East Indies, finally a sign of life as Hellsen launches a port strike on our ships at Koepang, inflicting damage.

Finally, the Blitzkrieg continues in China as we get one hex closer to clearing a path on the Ankang road. The road junction between Lanchow and Chungking is our ultimate goal and it's looking closer and closer to being ours, and soon.

Aussie Christmas in Bomb Shelters - 25 Dec 1941

Posted: Wed Jun 21, 2023 11:43 pm
by BananaConvention
Another day and another bombing of Sydney. Residents there are enjoying their rainy Christmas in bomb shelters as Kido Butai sends another full deck load at the city, stoking the fires. Unfortunately the weather was extremely stormy and the rain is putting out the fires faster than we can light them.

Elsewhere on the map, our Blitzkrieg Schwerpunkt is poised for a knockout blow on the Ankang road, clearing a pathway all the way to the vaunted Crossroads which are the key to China.

The Allies strike BACK...we're hurt... - 26 Dec 1941

I've been wondering when the Allies would stop running and turn to face us, and today may have been that day. We suffering a debilitating destroyer raid in our rear areas, enemy float planes smash a port full of combat ships, we endure TWO CAP traps, and the weather in Australia turned foul again.

This turn was total garbage for me and I'm going to need a few days to process what happened here and pick up the pieces.

We landed in Singapore! Did we get slaughtered? 28 Dec 41

We have assaulted Singapore! The shock attack was one I was dreading, and it could have gone any which-way with the Gary Grigsby component always at play. Did we get massacred? Take a look and see!

Epic Torpedo Beats - 29 Dec 41

The enemy subs are not letting up at all, but our ship captains and sub hunters are getting wiser to Hellsen's dirty tricks. We dodge some big hits and put the smack down on a Sugar Boat that's tempting fate just a little too much.

Small Moves with Huge Implications - 30 Dec 41

Posted: Mon Jul 03, 2023 3:12 am
by BananaConvention
Today's turn was relatively mild in terms of actual combat, but the strategic implications of our positioning now is huge. Let's list a few:

1) We are poised to take critical bases which will absolutely flip the score in our favor.
2) Our SOPAC campaign is going extremely well and are about to rake in more strat points soon
3) Key bases to our expansion seem underdefended, and easy pickings
4) China is going extremely well

Overall, despite our early losses and embarrassing defeats around Hokkaido, those operations have not significantly detracted from our overall mission of world domination. The next few weeks are going to be very exciting for us!

B-17s just ruined my New Years Eve - 31 Dec 41

I was hoping to have a great New Year's Eve but Hellsen decided to spoil it all with two B-17 raids, causing heavy damage. I'm back in the Japan Classroom learning painful lessons about protecting my ships.

We kick off the New Year with another assault on Singapore. While successful, it wasn't quite what we were expecting. General Percival may have cheated death one more day, but his time is coming for he and his men....soon....

Allied Counterattack Sends us Running on Luzon! - 2 Jan 42

I was worried about an Allied counterattack at Iba, but I had no idea it would be as forceful as this one was. The Allies on Luzon hit is back, and sent my brave Japanese Ronin running for the jungles. The entire situation is destabilized now and I am starting to wonder if I made a bad strategic choice.

This was a blockbuster turn for us! We capture two MAJOR objectives on the same day, catapulting us into the lead after only 28 turns and setting us up for success on our future conquests.

General Percival and his miserable men have been completely and utterly neutralized and are destined for a life of misery and despair... what other places can we crush now? I'm excited for the prospects!

We got the harbor of Singapore cleared and it's time to officially move in and press on for the next operation. I came in ready to do work so we should be ready to go soon.

In Australia, Kido Butai is back to work ruining the lives of these evil Allied Imperialists!

In China, we have another big win on our drive to secure the fuel keeping China alive.

I'm back after a week up on the Central Coast! I hate being back in the heat but I am ready to bring the heat right now with a full carrier deck load of KB aircraft hitting targets in Australia and making me huge money! Let's see if we can scrounge up some damage to keep this campaign on track.

The good weather didn't hold up for Kido Butai this turn, but it wasn't all bad. We just captured a critical base in the campaign and with it the entire Solomons and Papua region is now locked down hard.

Chinese Troops Putting Up a Fight - 9 Jan 42

Kido Butai got another strike off but it didn't go as well this time around. The Chinese put up a stiff fight and keep our supply lines blocked. Those ridiculous and OP Dutch Do-24s score some critical hits on our ships with troops aboard.

Strong Foothold on Sumatra! - 10 Jan 42

Posted: Wed Aug 02, 2023 6:11 am
by BananaConvention
We have established a strong foothold on Sumatra with the successful invasion of Sabang, and we are going to start our way down the penninsula to the oil-rich city of Medan.

The weather gods have blessed us again, and KB flew another full deck load of aircraft, pulverizing industrial targets and terrorizing the villainous residents of Australia. They will pay for their crimes against the Empire of Japan!

In the Java Sea, some of our shipping and covert operations were detected by the untimely arrival of Hellsen's naval search assets, and we are stuck hanging out in the open without adequate air cover.

In China, we continue to clear the supply lines and we are poised to break through on the road to Lanchow. Unfortunately, a Chinese jail break operation has been successfully concluded near Pucheng. We were clearly outplayed there.
