In the game, the device name in the database is the CMF Militia Section which upgrades to the CMF Inf Section which upgrades to the AIF 42 Squad.

The Aus (Mtd Rifles) device upgrades to the CMF Inf Section.

There is a way to have most if not all of these CMF devices upgrade to the AIF 42 Squad without having a lot of surplus CMF devices in the pools except for the Aus (Mtd Rifles) which continue to be delivered.

Unfortunately, there is no Beersheba charge for them on All Hallow's Eve.
All that is no doubt important but I'm a little hazy about what I should do with that information. Stockpile something somewhere? I'm guessing at this point.
I found a couple of CL's. a couple of TK's and some smaller ships to serve as escorts. I want to load about 10K of fuel and ship it to Pago Pago. I intend to use PP as a sort of mid-way hub from here to Pearl. So it's going to need a significant amount of fuel and maybe some AG's etc. to repair the broken ships. Those that need a new coat of paint are left to the ship crews to do themselves, we're busy doing important work. TF153 is a sort of hodge podge of ships but it'll do the job. I'm not docking the TK's because I don't want the whole 20K+ of fuel for this trip, only half or so of that so whatever they have loaded this time tomorrow will be what we will carry away. I expect at least 5K of fuel.

Stockpile your AIF Infantry 42, hit "i" and check the devices in "
Industry/Troops/Resource Pool" on the bottom. You can and do need to learn to stockpile your devices so you will have enough when you want to upgrade. You also don't want your rear echelon in training to have the latest and greatest devices while the troops fighting have the leftovers and rejects. Also, don't give your Chinese units replacements unless they are in India where there is lots of supply. China is short on supplies.
New Zealand needs fuel imported, it should come from CONUS. There are bases to set up which can be your hubs but Pago Pago is too far forward, especially if you were to play a human. Either send those tankers to the DEI where they might make a trip or two with fuel to Australia, but it is better to send them to CONUS and start setting up Christmas Island as a base hub. Bring engineers and supplies . . .
You will get troops at Bora Bora and Penhryn Island so start bringing supplies and engineers for them.

Thank you so much for that excellent advice...I'll make it happen. You're worth your weight in gold.

You don't know how much I weigh!
The man who opened the door is a Scout, the man who tried to kick the door in works in Military Intelligence and is probably an officer!

The first time I went to Vietnam I was based at Bien Hoa and all the officers I met were exceptional, top shelf. But all the Army guys were constantly complaining about their low budget officers who usually were in their units for a couple of months and then got rotated to staff positions and were replaced almost immediately by new ones from the states and the unit had to contribute to his education about how things were done in the field. Some of the officers got fragged in their sleep because they were walking talking assholes. Usually graduates from West Point were that way. But those guys who worked their way up through the ranks were usually outstanding. At any rate I have no opinion about the USAF officers I worked with good or bad. Just regular guys doing a hard job and nailing it most of the time.
The second time I deployed I went to Ubon in Thailand and flew on AC-130 Spectre Gunships every other night for a long time and never had a problem with an officer. Well there was that one time when I was doing a preflight on all the firepower devices we had on the plane and there was a procedure I was supposed to follow that required me to give a rather sharp tug on the ammunition chute leading from the ammo drum to the 20mm gun to make damn sure it doesn't come off for any reason and I shook the plane a tiny bit and the navigator stuck out his head from around the corner of the flight deck and yelled at me really loud: "Get off the damn plane." To which I raised both hands to signal my surrender and yelled back: "Yes SIR." and he immediately I guess he felt like he overreacted and tried to give me a better reason for his request: "I'm aligning the INS just now and I need things to be really still." And I jumped off the rear ramp and just avoided that guy for a while. But other than that all the officers I met were stern but fair. And they had their shit together.

EDIT: And FYI, I will never forgive the American Society for how the Vietnam Vets got treated when we came home. My sister Jeri finely said to me one day in 2005: "Thank you for your service." And I immediately thought to myself: that's too goddamn little, way to goddamn late. But I didn't say that to her. I actually avoided people for a couple of years. And when the national anthiem was played ( like at a baseball game ) I refused to stand and put my hand on my heart. And when they bury me they can bury me upside down so the entire world can kiss my fat ass.

If you ever get skin cancer on the tip of your nose and have to have a transplant, ask them to take the skin from your posterior and not your inner thigh. Then you can ask your sister to kiss it. If she ever says something like that to you again, look her in the eye and say "From you, DILLIGAF!"

I just found that Okha has an oil source with a yield of 80 but it's broken and needs to be repaired. I'm wondering if I can't just leave it not producing until I can harvest that oil somehow or other with my transports. I have no idea how it would arrive at the USA otherwise. And this is a bad time to be sneaking around that close to the HI.

So if I were going to harvest that fuel at some point it'll be a couple of years at least before it might be possible. I'd have to pass through the passage(s) between Owwekotan-jima and Paramushbio and that means I'd have to own those two and a couple more besides in order for my vehicles to safely pass there. I could use Attu as the other terminal point but it would probably have to be further conveyed to other further away points. Okha has 0 oil currently but if I were to fix that bad boy it would start to add up soon. Perhaps I can capture a refinery close to here and start making my own fuel close to here.

Unless the Soviets have been activated into the war, other Allied ships will not be able to dock at Soviet bases, nor flights land there.

The Soviets can't help yet, but the Chinese can. Sort of. There are a few size-3 Chinese-held ports (Wenchow, Foochow and Pakhoi) that you can use as fueling points for Allied submarines once everything else in the area has fallen to the Japanese. Unfortunately, they are too small for loading torpedoes (probably not realistic if they could). But they are good to have to help your subs loiter in the area or if in need of some emergency repairs. At least they are until the Japanese eventually turn their attention on them. However, Wenchow is well defended and with some reinforcements can hold out for a while.

The USSR is not available until August 1945, you can't get the oil either. At least, until the Japanese attack or even just drop off a load of rotten sushi. Yes, that happened where someone dropped off supplies and the Soviets were activated! That said, train your pilots and build your forts and other infrastructure.

If you really want to think out of the box, put those float planes and swordfish that start at Hong Kong at Wenchow.

I loaded the game turn save file into Tracker and here's what the first INTEL report spewed out. It looks like there's an immenent attack coming to Miri and Vigan... both are expected. I'm going to see if I can't move some PT boats to Vigan just to see what happens. I don't have anything handy for the Miri event but maybe I can scrape something together to send to Miri.

Force Z to Miri!

Then run away!
There is a way to save most of your units at Hong Kong, at least against the AI.

Minelayer
CM Willem v d'Zaan has 45 mines and is headed for Miri but I doubt that he's going to make it there before the Japs do. Maybe if I go at full speed I can make it. I'll probably lose the CM but I might be able to take one or more of the Japs with me.
