Let me try one more time to explain this so that you can pass it along to your "buddies": The original game was NOT Empires in Arms. It was to be a new computer simulation of war in the Napoleonic era. THAT FIRST GAME HAS LONG SINCE DIED.
The Empires in Arms project was undertaken not much more than a year ago (ask Matrix if you don't believe me). The development time has been remarkably SHORT, if you ask me. THERE HAVE BEEN NO DELAYS!
direct from the press release you twit...
"Staten Island, NY, September 23rd, 2002 - Matrix Games and Australian Design Group (ADG:
www.a-d-g.com.au ) are pleased to announce that the classic game of Napoleonic Grand Strategy, Empires In Arms, will be adapted for computer play with some new enhancements and features. Development is already well underway, with an expected release date of mid-2003."
Last time I looked August 2004 is not mid-2003. Try and get your facts straight next time.
Yohan, why do you keep arguing with pastrami?? He is so obviously wrong, and I also think he is refering to some other argument.
Pastrami: Yohan was originally refering to how long this game (since the declaration of an EiA port (Sept. 2002 OBVIOUSLY) ) has been under development. How can you continue to argue that it wasn't EiA that has been under development since Sept. 2002, when he just posted a direct quote??? It's obvious you don't like to consider yourself wrong much, or ever possibly, as most twits don't, but you are WRONG.

Geez Tondu, I usually respect your opinion but why are you supporting obvious misinformation?
No, no, no, my friend. It really isn't misinformation. NOT at all.
Go back to a time BEFORE that press release. Go back to a time when very few people ever came "here" --when "here" was actually someplace else. It was a different discussion forum back then. Go back to a time before the archived threads and posts were lost to hacking. I'm talking about going back more than a year Yohan.
pasternakski is correct, I tell you. He tells the truth. I was there.
I have to say that pasternakski ticked me off so much (back then) that he was put on my ignore list. Why would I
ever support his assertions if they weren't correct?? It wouldn't make sense if I did.
The game will be out when it is out. I really wish I could push a button and have this game appear in your hands with all the updates and patches that you could ever hope for.
You know, it makes no sense to carry around a hatchet. (I ought to know because, I tried it for a little while --and believe me, it sucks.) It makes much better sense to bury the hatchet instead. Especially here.
So, what'd you say?

Thanks David, that is all I ask for.
"When it is done".
As for the pre-EiA days on this board, I remember it well enough that I was looking forward to a new approach.
Porting EiA, in comparison to my expectations and some others who visited then, is something less exciting than the original concept.
But life is full of disappointments, and I now look forward to a quality product that does justice to the Napoleonic period WHEN IT IS DONE, and not before.
Not a "Coaster"
Not a buggy, half finished piece of junk hurried so it could be sold for Christmas (Anyone seen that?)
Not a game that accepts marginiality for the sake of a timely release.
Matrix has promised not to do the things that aggravate gamers (particurly grognards) with the "mainstream" game producers. They promised not to let economic or OTHER pressures force premature release of games.
They have held true and I respect that.

Some of you need to buy Campaign on The Danube to relieve some serious stress problems
Arguing that the game is not late.....incredible, these people would debate the colour of sh!te for weeks without admitting they've made a mistake.

How about you keep personal insults out of the game-related threads? I would also prefer being addressed by my actual forum ID.

ROFLMAO, You really must be kidding. Why don't you start by practicing this policy yourself? You might find it works.

Absolutely Denisoh - I want a complete game that works when sold, not one that I have to download new patches for constantly. Empires in Arms is a huge effort to play, and if the multiplayer works well, it would enable us grognards to have something that we could actually find seven players for - even if we're spread all over the net.

Actually, many people, including myself, have stopped playing CotD as we await a patch, so there is wisdom in not releasing a game too soon........
