PH is pretty nasty after the first free turn. It eats about 50 aircraft each attack. You have 450 to start. After about the 4th day (assuming the weather holds and doesn't screw you up) you start to actually have some supression effects, but not much.

One of the things that got taken care of in WitP was that ships automatically reload AA ammo when in port, so there is no longer that false effect of depleting their guns that happened in UV.

Hrmmmm, this is what I get to look at for 400-1000 hours of play? A bunch of numbers and tags? The combat results reminds me a lot of an old Avalon Hill computer game called Midway, wayyyy early 80's game. Bunch of numbers, where's the kewl graphic depictions of the ships and planes blowing up, on fire? ;) I thought I was gonna see real 3D action in this version, hehe. The numbers would be fine if they were behind some real kewl 3D graphic animations of all that was going on, like in the Harpoon series of games. ;) Heh, I wonder what kind of monster computer it would take to do all that?

What you're seeing here is simply the text file results. The turn took about 5 minutes to resolve, and featured nice animations of bomb blasts on my ships and torps blowing guysers higher than the mainmasts of my tankers...

Stop that sexy talk of bombs and gysers.. I am really really excited now... the folks that need to see tracer rounds and whatch "real time" will never enjoy such a quality game, I was hooked the first map I saw.. looks awesome... and I have played perhaps 250 -350 computer games

I guess another reason to withdraw the carriers from PH quickly is because if you don't, this gives the Allies a significant amount of air-superiority in Southeast Asia. The Dutch and British appear to be scoring some very good hits, and creating some good LB strikeforces. I would hate to see how much they have trained/improved during these frontier battles (i.e., before the real battles for Singapore and Java/Sumatra begin) with such few losses.

Go for bases with high enough airbase values so you can bring in your LBA (notably your A6M and Ki-43 squadrons) to provide CAP, and stop those unescorted bombers from wreaking havoc.
