You seem to fight battles against inferior enemies with less payment sometimes. $125000 is standard while fighting enemies of same rank but sometimes you write about $100000 payment.

Sleeping Dragon; thanks for the suggestion, but I don't want to chance losing a jock that I've been working on for so long .. I'll export them if I can, which would be the first time I've tried this.

aquietfrog: my titans have sometimes picked up considerable damage from downed titans, but as this was usually when the fight continued in the same hex, I'm simply going to try to move the fight away once an enemy goes down.

Larkin: Thorgrim mentioned this underpayment being linked to fighting weaker opponents; I thought I'd always kept my opponents equal to my team, but I suppose this is possible. In terms of my team going bankrupt, I don't think a few extra $25,000's would have made much difference. They've been losing, roughly speaking, since they upgraded from recons to lights.

The problem is IMO too many explosions. You lose too many titans to them, and your repair bill goes up, and your salvage goes down. You have to be more careful.

About Payment, it is strange. You could keep an eye out for the details (individual jock ranks, specific conditions) to try to id the source.

Peter keep in mind that you have to set enemy rank according to your average rank displayed in battle, not in hq. These can differ as average rank in hq is just the sum of jock ranks divided by numbers whereas battle rank is modified by the titans the jocks are piloting.

Larkin, that last is probably where I went wrong. Thanks for explaining again; I didn't take it in the first time you told me.

Never really understood that change.
Why doesn't the hq use the same formula as battle? Kinda confusing having 2 different "average" ranks.
Are random teams also using the modified formula?

The hq is just the jocks. Its the place where jock - titan allocation is dynamic. Therefore the average is the average of just the jocks. In batlle its about team fighting strength with fixed jock - titan allocations. If you have a hero on assault and a rookie on recon its not the average of hero + rookie / 2. Its modified by the titans.

Likewise, it would be kind of unfair to penalize the rookie for not fighting a far superior opponent just because his buddy is a hotshot [8D]

I wasn't talking about what was changed, I was talking about why. 5 vets in recons aren't less dangerous than 1 vet in an assault.

???
One hero in assault + one rookie in recon will have a higher average rank than before. IMO it makes sense.

I guess a rule to go by is, when you need money, go up against larger weight teams of less skilled pilots, whereas if you need experience more, fight smaller teams with better pilots.

And yes, when there's an imminent engine explosion, density of titan formation / density of player == 1 ;-D
