I finally got a reply to my membership application on the BtR Message Board, but I CANNOT ACCESS IT! Can anybody help?
Exactly what problem are you having now? EZboard is a pain in the butt sometimes. It takes me 5-6 tries to get in sometimes to enter the BTR site. Having to login everytime.
Is it still telling you that you need to register or what.
I log in at the ezboard site. I then enter 'btrbombingthereich' in the 'Quick Jump - Enter a Web ID' box. I hit the 'Jump' button and it sends me to the Membership by Application page. As my membership has already been approved, I click the 'Local Users of BTR- Bombing The Reich - log in here' link. It sends me back to the ezboard log in page. I then basically loop through the procedure I just described to you. Over, and over, and over, ad nauseum.
I just don't get it.
How do I get access to the board to log in "Locally"?

Well, I finally tracked down BTR and will soon have a copy (thanks Rohondalynn).
Are there any utilities available to help manage the huge detail that is a Grigsby trademark ? How about web sites (other than the one that I keep reading that very few can get in) ?
What is the average time to conduct a turn ? (plotting vs action)

My membership has been approved for the BTR board, so I'd suggest you try there first. Only problem for me now is that my BTR seems to have got lost in transit. [:(]

Okay, sounds like you are getting hit with what I call the "ezboard bug". It happens to me sometimes also. It can take me 4-6 times of trying to get in before it allows me in.
Try this link after you log into EZboard:
http://p081.ezboard.com/bbtrbombingthereich
The problem is more on the EZboard side than anything. I really hate ezboard. Drives me crazy. Sorry took so long to get back to you.

Same results. I'll try it later when I have time to make 6-7 attempts.

Hey, if anyone is interested in trading I've got both BOB and BTR that I would be willing to package together for any one of these HPS games:
Campaign Franklin
Campaign Ozark
Fulda Gap
North German Plain
PzC Market Garden
PzC Sicily
any of the Squad Battles

I also have BoB and never got into it much.
I'm moving in 2 weeks and it's packed up somewhere, so if you want it and can wait, I'd be happy to part with it after the move.

Well my copy of BTR has finally arrived, seems like the Royal Mail (or whatever it's called nowadays) sent it by boat after collecting an airmail fee. Now I'm getting the ezboard runaround as noted above: whatever I do I just keep going round in rings trying to get into the forum. I'm sure there must be some good stuff to read in there, if only I could get in. [&:]

Took me 6 try's to get in just a minute ago. And I have been a BTR member for about a year and a half.
I hate ezboard, keeps logging me out and if I am logged in, it tells me I have to log in.
Have faith, keep trying and hope you have led a good life.
There is lots of good info, hints, tips etc in there once you get in.

I finally gave up trying to access the message board and have uninstalled both titles from my PC. I REALLY wanted to play them and meet other players of the games. What's up with board? If 'JC' (the moderator, I think) is too busy to take care of it then he should recruit some help. When I hear the board is acccessible again, I will play the games. The way it is now, it will just drive away potential players.[:(]

Chris,
I kept getting the "Apply for membership" screen, even though I'd applied and got accepted before. Decided to hit the Apply for membership button again, and 12 hours and another approved email later I was able to access the board without problem. I'd suggest giving it one more go if that's what you're getting.

Chris,
you can give the games a chance even without joining the board right now. It's not bad to have some experience with the game and its mechanics before reading discussions about details which are incomprehensible even for long time players sometimes. The games are great, particularly BTR, that has much more playing depth. BOB is great to start and is not discussed anyway. And BOB is much more fun to play when trying out how to win for yourself, instead of reading the easy way of winning on the board.
Give them a try! [:)]

If you need patches/Updates for BTR then go here :
http://www.tbpnetworks.net/btredit/foru ... .asp?$sid=
EZ-Board seems to have problems the last weeks not only related to cookies and marked read topics .
Do you have a global user account at EZ-Board ?

Hi Scout1
the only thing I could off, if you can't get it to run, is to try and set it under compatablity mode for XP (seems to help with BoB for some of us)
it works okay for me under XP, so don't know what is wrong or how to fix it
HARD_Sarge
hey guys, not to be rude or anything, but please remember, real life affects all of us, sometimes it can be a hassle to even get on the net for some of us
for patches and what not, I normally have been the one to try and send them out, but the new email Virus checker being used, won't let me mail them out anymore, so am trying to get another site to host it/them (Harley comes to mind when he can get to it)

In other thread it was resolved, he found his autoexec.nt was in repair folder.
Its occured with other games, people report after installing SP2 they have problems with some older software, SP2 seems to hose the autoexec.nt file
and so SP2 breaks the dos/16bit support.
If apply SP2, check repair folder if have same problem for missing autoexec.nt

To quote what I said in the other thread...
First of all AUTOEXEC.NT does have much to do with sound. You are incorrect there. Delete the sound statements in it and you will find not everything runs as you would like it too.
Second. Anyone who has AUTOEXEC.NT disappear again after reboot is suffering from known virus/adware/trojan/highjacker programs quite a few of which like to delete this file for obvious reasons. This is actually the most common reason for a disappearing AUTOEXEC.NT file.
Third. While a particular version of SP2 did delete this file in error it no longer does so nor are there that many according to 3rd party sources that were affected by this "short term bug". For instance I have four XP PC's and all upgraded just fine to SP2 with no effect on the file.
Four. XP doesn't corrupt files and cause them to appear in the REPAIR directory. The Repair directory gets its name from the NT days of the ERD Emergency Repair Disk that also made a copy in that directory. Now it gets populated on install as well as whenever you run a backup using the BACKUP program in windows and choose to Backup the System State. One of many things you should be doing.
Five. XP SP2 is NOT 'buggy'. It has simply added a few security measures that, when not understood, could cause certain issues with a SMALL NUMBER of older applications and games. This is the extreme exception and in most cases, including with every single one of my games and apps on all of my machines, things should continue to work just fine with SP2.
But lets just blame Microsoft for everything anyway. [:@] It must have been their evil plans to force us to stop playing our old games and buy new ones from them instead...
So given that I'd still suggest everyone apply SP2 who hasn't already. Your Autoexec.NT should be just fine.

And speaking of pricing, why are copies of "Close Combat The Russian Front" $70 to $80 flippin dollars? And all the rest of that series are nickels and dimes?
I just seen the Russian front at Compusa for 9 bucks, no manual just the cd and jewel case only.
