The Germans waste no time driving the WA out of France, but this allows the WA to conquer Northern Italy....when you launch invasions, you need to reinforce the region quickly as AI counterattacks are swift and deadly...though the German front is shrinking, their concentration of manpower can thwart any ill advised and half hearted landings...I am labeled by the New York Times as General J.P. "Meat Grinder" Falcon!

Winter 45
The Western Allies invade the Solomon Islands...I commit my fleet to protect the landing force, but my lack of an effective CV compliment could cause me problems...there is alot to manage in this game, and if you neglect any part of it (in this case replacing the CV air units quickly) you will find yourself in a dire straights, or in this case dire Solomon straits!

Force Pool..note that the German supply situation is precarious...even failed WA invasions reap the benefit of draining German supplies!

Does that mean that if you attack a country and even if the attack fails, you destroy ALL of the stored supplies there or do you destroy just some parts of it?

Spring 45
The Western Allies liberate the Netherlands...the Germans can launch a counterattack but it will cost them dearly in supplies, and with Russia at their doorstep in the east, will make their position more difficult.......

I should have been more clear....when I mention that an invasion "fails" I am refering to the fact that I do not survive more than one or two turns...in fact, the invasions are a "success", in that they occuppy the territory, but where they fail is that I could not maintain the newly established front...so they have been successful "raids", destroying enemy units and supplies, but long term failures with the end result that I can lose the game...

Here is the Research Screen for the Western Allies...
The research rules are perfectly illustrated with this screen...note that at this late stage of the game, it will cost me 40 research points to advance to the next tech levels for Infantry Evasion and Land Attack...the cost is in direct relationship to how many units you have in the field, so this expensive amount is a reflection of all the units that would receive an auto tech advance....there is no random element in the game, with the exception that you, and the AI, might receive the tech increase a turn earlier than expected when you are close to the advancement amount.....at this point, it is probably a waste of research points to try advancing Infantry tech any further, and if you recall from showing the Infantry tech screen earlier, had I used my head, these costs would have been cheaper, had I started these advancements sooner.... so a word to the wise, invest often and early in tech when it is more affordable....I am creating my own IDIOT'S GUIDE TO PLAYING WAW with this AAR because you are all learning how NOT to play the game....[:)]

Summer 45
Here is another example of poor planning:
I was so concerned about the Japanese Navy attacking my fleet at the Solomons, that I failed to realize that my inferior CV air arm could not defend itself against the Japanese Air force based at New Caledonia...my three CV air fleets were destroyed, though the Japanese suffered as well and only have two fighters remaining...obtaining a Decisive Victory may all but be lost to me.........

Western Allies bomb Western France in preparation for another invasion...hopefully, this offensive will not result in me needing Preperation H!
The importance of pre invasion bombing is to eliminate the artillery so that there are no OP Fire attacks when you invade...OP Fire can be deadly...

Fall 1945
The Germans concentrated on bombing the Russians in Berlin, and shifting its' army around to try covering as many fronts as possible....The Russians then boldly marched into Western Germany and were shocked at finding a staunch German defence....the Russians retreated, licking many wounds which included 20 infantry damaged!...damn this game is fun!...[:)]
