Major IJN screw-up as my CVs launch against PM CAP. I should have limited strike range to 4 hexes. I loose a lot of planes for nothing. Why the stupid TacAI decides on a launch against PM that has 70 AC on CAP is a mistery to me. Especially when there are CVs near by. On top of all my Kates are unable to score a hit.

This could be very well be my last WITP game, I am frustrated that you have no control when you need it.

It's just a game. We all know the limits. As I reading other AARs I start to think about WitP as a mere game not a WW2 simulator.

We all know some tricks to counter known exploits. Bombardment TF obliterates everything. Well I put 7 single AK TFs in the port and bombardment will achieve nothing. And so on.

They promised special 1000 lb AP bomb for allies. Instead they should've increased penetration power of 1000 lb GP bomb (they cannot implement advanced damage model for ships as I’ve read somewhere).

-This can done easily in the editor. Do you think it would be realistic to allow these bombs to sink bigger BB´s (they can deal with Kongos, right?)
There is no off map repair option. They forgot to transfer it from UV. Sounds like a nice feature though.

-Also easy to be fixed in the editor. I personally think we can correct lots of strange things by using the editor. My own modified Guadalcanal scenario seems to be running with more realistic results (vs. AI)

They think it would be unrealistic to allow 1000 GP to sink BBs, so they allowed some of the SBDs in the strike to carry 1000 lb AP bombs (depends on the experience etc.).

Yea you can do whatever you want with editor, but we play stock scenarion on Andy's map.

I think the word from the Admin on this scenario is that theres no off map repair as Damage to ships is counted in the score. Dumb i know.

So for example cause 30 sys damage to a 300 point BB and you will get, 90 points for it.

After a long silence, I got the turn from Testarossa a few days ago. Since then, a few turns have passed, without any major action.

Events in the last few turns:
- Allied sub sunk between Truk and Rabaul
- Milne bay garrison evacuated by allies from the hex west of Milne Bay
- Night bombing of Kavieng by 30 Liberators make 2 holes in the runway at Kavieng

Situation:
- IJN holds most of the the starting bases
- Allies took Lunga, Tulagi and the small island west of Lunga (no troops there though)
- IJN took Milne bay
- IJN BB force - many BBs damaged, 1 lost
- US CV WASP was sunk, 2 other CVs damaged, but I suspect not seriously
- IJN CVs are untouched
- IJN suffered heavy A2A casualties in a few battles

Currently it seems both sides are preparing for the next move - whatever that will be. The big question: can the allies advance any further without CV superiority? The other big question: can Japan take another allied base against the strong airforce of the allies?

Just recently I could send back damaged ships in a TF to Osaka/Kobe - is this a feature in 1.5 or a bug? I suspect the latter... Ships sent back are not on the reinforcement list.

2 turns have passed. The 1st one saw a visit by 80(!) Liberators at Rabaul. No CAP , port attack damaged about 10 APs + 2 SS.
I was still waiting for fighter reinforcements and could not afford CAP.

2nd turn - no major action, allied CV force spotted south of Guadalcanal.

The big question: can the allies advance any further without CV superiority?

You gotta be kidding[:D]!!! Advance in 1942? Aint gonna happen.

Regarding 2 weeks pause. I was so busy screwing with my rig to get it working with SH3, so I forgot to check that I actually sent you my turn, expecting in fact the turn from you. Than I kind of decided to track inbox outbox sequence and saw that i actually the one who was supposed to send a turn. And no, I don’t smoke bud.[:D]

And port attack sunk 1 SS and damaged 2 others. Not a big deal as they would've been sunk anyways by my mighty DDs.

In the full campaign the allies would not have a chance trying to advance, but if you look at the very low replacement rate of IJN planes in this scenario, the allies actually have a chance here. Maybe not anymore with WASP lost.

That was one exciting surface action. What's the probability of intercepting FT TF? At least you screwed my bombardment...

How your subs managed to mine Townsville with 80+ planes on ASW i don't know.

Bad weather over PM prevent majority of strikes. Craven sinks without problems near Milna Bay. I lost 2 DDs and got another 2 badly mauled. I hope IJN lost 1 DD and got CL badly damaged.
