Spwaw is the best. I played cc3 and the campaign series and didn't like either much. Same with vietnam squad battles.

Combat Mission is excellent. I have no problem with camera angles or controlling units. I play infantry battles mainly, no tanks. It's just a fun game. You can download hires mods for terrain and buildings to eliminate the bland look. Also there are mods for all the other theaters that can be used with cmbo.

For strategic gaming nothing beats toaw.

Silent Storm, a man to man game, is coming out soon and looks good. Kind of a ww2 jagged alliance.

But after spwaw my fav is Go. It is the deepest game I've ever played.

Go/Igo... been a long time since I played that. Can't say it's my favourite wargame, though--a weeeeee bit too abstract to me for that. ;)

Heh. Never played Igo but Go is one of those games you can learn in 10 minutes and it can take a lifetime to master. I've been playing for a few years, studied some books, and am almost a novice. Very complex. No luck at all. Probably has more players worldwide than chess, mainly in Asian countries. But it is abstract. And very deep.

They look like the same thing... maybe I just got an old or regional translation. ?_? But agreed regardless on all counts.
