And if you have 19 games going at the same time, you have to make sure to send the correct turn to the correct opponent. I have one(1) game at the moment, and that's more than enough![8D]

I believe the problem is this:
The game works in PBEM, and when you play pbem, you invest alot of time and effort into the game. And thats ok, I mean, that is why we play the game. But it is not ok when you waste your time and effort.
Example
So you know his carriers are hovering somewhere in the area, and you set up a clever trap to catch him. And you spend several days or weeks of real time setting up the battle that is about to come. And then, suddenly you spot his carriers, and you know he hasnt spotted yours, and you give the orders for that magnificent war-turning Midway-type battle.
Only to have it fucked up completely due to some bug. Its frustrating. Very frustrating.
But ok, bugs happen. So you take your gripe to the forum, to vent or rant or whatever but also to inform everyone else of the bug. Then its absolutely tarderiffic to be met by blank stares from frag or mog and then the fanbois arrive in droves to back up their favourite company and/or mods because they think this will score them points or whatever...maybe lead to a spot in the next beta...who knows.
I think the vast majority of the infected atmosphere in this forum comes from those clashes. The clash between a frustrated player who maybe just had a 4-5 month pbem game ruined because of some bug, and some retarded answer from a mod.
Example:
player: "Hey, I just lost my entire fleet at Rabaul because of laser guided bombs from a B17 flying at 39 000."
moderator: "Dont base your ships within striking distance from allied heavies...that is stupid, blame yourself"
player "wtf..."
fanboi: "OMG moderator, you are soo cool..hahah I want to be just like you"
two months later
matrix staff: "we fixed the bug where bombers above 36000 were too accurate"

How much time would it take to make port size a factor in determining whether a certain size of naval ordinance can be found there (they did it for mines/torpedoes, why not shells)? How much time would it take to add ops limits to ports for the purposes of refueling/rearming/loading ships? How much time would it take to add the same ops limits to airbases for air operations? Stacking limits for airbases a tough task? How hard would it be to make CAP less effective by adding ammo to air combat and making it less area/hex oriented and more unit oriented (the more assets in the hex the greater the chance the CAP will be watered down to cover everything). As Nik suggested, perhaps divide DC hits on subs so that they are spread out and not all belt hits which result in flotation damage. Make air transfer missions more like in Battle of Britain (disable the aircraft to some degree). Etc....
I'm not talking about lost causes like land combat etc. Simple stuff.
Can't see any of the above breaking the AI either.
Oh man, I can tell you are not a coder at all. I haven't seen the code so I may be way off base here, but having coded myself (and being of just average coding ability) and watching how the game works and picking up tidbits here and there off the forum, each and every one of the changes you suggest would be a major re-write and some, like the CAP rule would be a major overhaul. Not that I don't think your suggestions are good, as a matter of fact, I think they are excellant, but I think the chances of them happening in WITP 1.XX are very slim.
I enjoy this game immensley. I have not ran across in bugs that have been show stoppers. I play it at least an hour each and every day. I understand constructive criticism and efforts to make the game better ciritcism done in such a negative way is counter-productive. Matrix has done a very good job at supporting a dificult, opinionate, at times ungrateful, and certainly hard to please community. My hats off to them.

IMO this is among the best games ever designed. Great job Matrix.

The bugs are aggrivating (Disappearing leaders, crashes in the ship availability screen, etc), but they are nothing that I can't survive. As far as the 'ahistoric' items/ outcomes, etc: If you want historical results, read a book.

Oh Yes! [8D]
Best game ever.
I said it already, I'm going to say it again: the gaming market has lost a customer. Since WitP came out I stopped buying and playing any other game. And this counts for something!

Guys, please. Give the folks who started this thread one thread for this purpose without using it for comments that should either be in their own new thread or in an already existing one. There are actually a lot of happy players out there and I don't think it's too much to ask for this thread to be kept to them. There are at least ten other active threads with comments, suggestions and criticisms.
Regards,
- Erik
-The trouble is that I´m 80% happy with the game, but I believe it would be possible to be 110% happy if some changes were implemented, so I think I have the right to post both in "happy" and "unhappy" sections. I´m working hard in the editor to see how the game could be improved (not as hard as the CHS guys), but I think Matrix gave up too early from attempts to improve someobvious flaws.

Yup. I've said it before and i'll say it again. I also really enjoy playing this game. I really enjoy playing WW2 strategy and even tactical games but I can honestly say the depth and scope of this game still amaze me and draw me in. The buzz and anticipation of watching the combat replay still has not passed a year after playing the game.
Sure there are quirks and things that I think could be changed/improved but does it mean I won't play the game, of course not.
This is a great game with great support. Period.

I send out between 4 to 6 turns a day depending on my opponents.
I have been doing this for the better part of a year.
Only one other game has managed to stay on my hard drive this long and thats IL2.
Still the best 70 dollars I have ever spent.

I'm enjoying despite having little clue as to what I'm actually doing and having all the planning abilities of a small bee named Eric.

Well, half a bee, philosophically, must ipso facto half not bee... but can a bee, be said to be, or not to be an entire bee, when half the bee is not a bee, due to some ancient injuree?

Ditto on this thread. I vastly enjoy the game as it currently stand. Now, that doesn't mean i don't welcome any further changes, or the changes made based on the postings and testing of others. I can live with the game as is...

I find something to gripe about every turn. But I still keep sending the turns.[8D]
