Well..russian air units should stand down in training mode utill a formal war declaration is delivered...right?

Training is fine by me. But I will have shuffled them around a bit [;)]

Although I would allow Cap to remain otherwise any frontline planes could be open to a devastating raid if Gen Hoepner gets an itch that taking out teh rest of the Pacific - or a trip to the pox doctor - can't fix.

Wobbly, Japan won't attack russia before a declaration of war, formally delivered to you.
I'd prefer that every russian groups will remain on training( obviously it can be relocated whereever you prefer in Russian borders). This house rule it's just a way to deal with the poor starting disposition of russian air groups...nothing more

Suggestion for 1 more house rule:

Japan will not upgrade crap DBs (Sonia, Marys, Anns) to LBs.
Allies wont uprgade medium bombers to heavies.

What do you think?

This is one for the other two to answer as they have most of the upgradeable bombers [:)]

I don't know how you usually play or intend to fight this one between the three of you. I usually play a fairly 'realistic' game. I don't skip bomb or bomb from 1000'. Nor do I usually fly bomber raids of over 100 or at night (except Catalinas!). At least not in 42! Usually AVG stays in China (or at least most of it) etc.

But if my opponent is doing things to really exploit the system I'll have to retaliate in kind if possible. Otherwise I won't really be giving you a game.

It's very hard to put these things in to a set of strict House Rules without either missing some (which can then be heavily exploited) or unbalancing things. Also I think most people would accept more gamey and exploitative play by the side taking a beating. If you have cleared most of the Pacific and SRA and are bearing down on the final allied bases in Southern Oz you can probably accept massed Heavies Skip bombing if that would do any good by then [:D]

Still this one is really a question for the other two.

Personally I am much more concerned about how much you are massing your bombers and how often you night bomb than whether they are Dive Bombers or Sallys....

Haven't i said anything about night bombings? if not, please forgive me. I really think night bombing is still to be tweakened so i suggest to use it only for city attacks and naval attacks.
Massin bombers? 50*level AF is the max allowed by the house rules.
Hope this clears things up a bit

...anybody know when 1.7 will be out?

I've got no problem w/ night bombing or aircraft upgrade house rules. Gotta keep some semblance of reality, otherwise only Helens and B-24s will be used...

Don't know about the release date - I'm willing to start using 1.77, but then again, we Allies don't have "The First Turn From Hell" to re-enter if anything goes awry...

Good luck to you all, I'm currently in 3 team games and they are really good fun. Our slowest gets through about 3 turns a week, our fastest one a day, ranging over Europe and USA time zones.

Cheers

Roger

I have no problem with night bombing with Gen Hoepner's rules - naval and city attack only. If we keep to the 50* rule for airfields there is a tendency to want to make those 250 ACs the heaviest they can be. So I do think we have to restrict medium to their type unless their historical upgrade path is to change.

Yes, we've pretty much decided that would be the best rotation. The Imperial forces have the far more difficult moves ahead of them anyway...

Just before this one disappears off the page [;)]

We had decided to await the next patch. But when this decision was made I at least was expecting that to be a couple of weeks or so away. But due to a some problems the next patch may be weeks or even months away.

What do people think about just starting. Either on 1.6 or at the latest Beta? The outstanding issues appear to be the Leader bug - and thats been around for a long time and has not stopped us playing before [:)] Plus the occasional vanishing units (ditto) [;)] And the limit of 30,000 pilots which hopefully should be fixed before we reach that point [:D]

So shall we begin or carry on waiting....

Have fun guys. We started with an East to West rotation (in FALITP), which seems reasonable, but, in the real world, people have unpredictable schedules...so we have gone to a a modified "shotgun" approach. For, eg., the last Allied player scattershoots the turn to all the Imperial Troops simultaneously and the first opponent to pick up the file runs the combat resolution and sends back to all Allies then executes his portion of the turn and then, in some mystical fashion, the remaining two playes do their turn in sequence.

The final Jap turn then goes to Tom, team Captain who scattershoots to the two remaining Allied players. One of us then "calls it' via email, makes his moves and sends on...the last one in sequence wraps up the turn.

Does that make any sense? It is more flexible than a ridid rotation and it has improved our turn around. I think we are doing 4-5 per week.

Dear Enemies [:D]

It seems I am jumping the gun a bit here. I have spoken to the other allies and while they both agree that we should not wait for the patch they are concerned about availability over the holidays. BLurking will miss the begining of the game if we start now and Wobbly is soon off on holiday / attending Weddings in foriegn parts [:)]

So can we push this back in to the New Year some time? I know that there will be times when one or more of us will not be available and we don't want the game to stop each time. But it would be a shame for anyone to miss all of the crucial first few days and weeks.

Sorry to have got everyones hopes up [:(]

By the way I assume we will be having an AAR? Presumably one for each side [:)]

I think its good idea to make agreement about version we start.

Japanese players can start making their first turn.

It will take us several days I believe - and we wont be in a hurry when we start doing the 1st turn now.

I propose 1.73, if anybody has good experience with later beta, we can it.
