RHS Scenario 60 2.14

Witpchk is showing a good bunch of ships sunk, and ton of weapon issues on ships. The biggest issue is all Japanese Carriers have incorrect Ordance (device 195 is showing as a 57mm cannon). I belive device 195 Aircraft Ordance is a special device, and this device slot should never be used by anything else!

Are there any changes to the locations? I removed all the additional comments in brackets from all location names. I find them irritating and some screens do not look good with the long names. So can I keep the old location file? I do not want to do the work again.

Boy do I have bad news for you:

1) You cannot use another location file - it is the heart of any scenario.

2) I just spent many hours ADDING comments in brackets to the few things that didn't have them but have room for them. I like them a great deal - along with uniform abbreviations (like ROC, USSR, USN, RIN, you name it) to help players know what service, territory, etc is meant.

3) They are so important functionally I have formally asked to have the report window made wider so the few reports that run off the right edge won't do that any more!

My motto is "power to the players" - and that includes both options and information. If you cannot handle it, I recommend CHS. If you like the RHS map it will work with CHS scenarios. There is a gigantic investment in time just for the 'eye candy' and information value in these parens - and I have no intention of removing them (at an equal investment in time).

Does not seem right. From 2.16 upward it won't be that way.

Ships in slots 001-025, 029, 3035-3042, 3053-3056, 3068 have 57 mm cannon (device 195) in weapon slot 20 -> should have device 196 (50kg GP bomb) [I guess this replaces device 196 (aircraft ordnance) from stock scenario.]
Corresponding ship classes have 50kg bomb.

Actually - almost right. They should have device 195 (aircraft ordnance).

This is probably a problem. But I am not seeing it as a problem in combat. Will test.

- ships 7 juno and 8 hiyo have a mixup in airgroups

Yep - one squadron from each was on the other. As of 2.16 they are back home. But it would not really matter.

These are all intended. Wether or not they are "right" is a matter of opinion. I used a reference on USAAF squadrons, and took the most common case as my case. But some squadrons switched BACK to OLDER planes - and other wierd things - exceptionally. There are other cases - P-43 is not a US plane (well it is US made, but not in US service) = it is Chinese if I remember right - and there is nothing to upgrade to. P-35 is a special case - and not in regular US service either.

One amazing thing - if you study REAL events - is the threads saying it is "wrong" to upgrade 2E to 4E are, in fact, wrong. That is exactly what the US did! WITP in the past misleads with B-17s and LB-30s in numbers - neither served in numbers - and the LB-30 didn't serve as a real bomber (although some units did patrol duty in tiny numbers it was really a transport - every one ended up as a hack or transport - and most began US service that way - and there were never more than enough for one group as bombers) - RHS gives you B-24s - the real bomber of the Pacific - but it takes time to get them. The 2E bombers are important UNTIL the B-24 replaces them. And some of these 2E bombers carry torpedoes, others a 76 mm gun!

Other wise the Japan AI will still be flying Nates and Claudes in 1945!

Actually, they have complimentary air groups. 8 and 14 on one, 14 and 8 on the other - 22 total both.

ORIGINALLY all were to have just dive bombers. The seaplanes were added so they could recover and relaunch some of the group - the dive bombers being unable to land back on board! We have a technical problem - there is no ability to make a ship with regular and seaplanes mixed - so I took a seaplane that is actually the SAME as the dive bomber - only floats added! A strange bit of compromising. But there are two squadrons - and the sizes are quite right. After a certain date, code forces both to be 11 though - this happens to all carriers - air group size hard code changes.

Wow. The first shows their parent organization. The second lists all seaplane carriers - so I took out the second listing and pointed to the first in those slots.

- Hellcat II (083) has 6" guns

And I keep telling them not to do that. My 500 pound bomb is in the stock slot - so I am not sure why it refuses to mount on them? Further the device mounts on MOST planes. I cannot imagine what plane might have occupied these slots that really had six inch guns either. I will keep talking to these planes. Problem is - EVERY AIR UNIT with them has to be updated too.

Here you have run into a code problem:

A radar cannot be what Type 13 is - surface search/air search

It is primarily asurface search radar - so that is how I code it - and so do CHS and stock. This is as correct as can be - but not quite right with respect to reality.

Here I think you are correct. Hard to tell - since we are really messing with the code.

Hmmm - in MY files it IS 500. So maybe you don't have the right file?

Witpchk is showing a good bunch of ships sunk, and ton of weapon issues on ships. The biggest issue is all Japanese Carriers have incorrect Ordance (device 195 is showing as a 57mm cannon). I belive device 195 Aircraft Ordance is a special device, and this device slot should never be used by anything else!

I fear you are right. I thought it was a mere label. The only thing is - does it matter? The carriers seem able to function anyway. It is going to hurt one Japanese plane - but I think we better go with design until we know we don't have to. Working on this.
