Where is a list of included scenarios? It out to be in the FAQ or have a sticky of its own. Wherever it is posted, it is not easy to find.

It is in the manuals folder, a pdf file called "TOAW3 scenario description".Requires Adobe Acrobat reader (free).

Does this work using the TOAW III editor, or do you need COW?

They work with the TOAWIII Editor.

I am not sure if this scenario is included in TOAW III or not, but I played the heck out of this scenario in TOAW I and it is excellent. Very well done:

When I played it, I also read Antony Beever's excellent book Stalingrad: The Fateful Seige: 1942-1943.

Player classic IMO. Just shows how it went on the day- both sides. And gives one the option to get the hell out of there on Day 2 (?). Brilliant. I know designers will have huge problems with it, but hey, as a player I loved it and it worked for me and M. Favre, merci.

Not built for PO play though. You need to find a PBEM opponent. Also upgrade it to TOAW III.

Now don't be shy, post out there and someone will always want to take one side or the other. As a new player I think you've got the right to suggest off-ladder, but not sure how many others would agree with me.

Personally I've played a fair few players ex-ladder, and I think that works both ways- experienced players can try out a side with desperate play balance against them in a particular scenario to see what went (or is) wrong and new players learn- seems a win-win scenario to me.

In this regard I'd love to see a best designers versus best players tournament using a best scenario- something like Tobruk 41 with all bells and whistles on and a few AARs. Now that is what dreams are made of... Goodness gracious, we all might learn something.

I liked it very much too. Good feel of play.
 
Beevors book FWIW is FANTASTIC.

With all this talk about TOAW III, I recently re-installed TOAW I and loaded up JMass's graphics Mod (excellent btw).

Using the editor, I added in more units for the Russian side, and I am playing FS again as the Germans. Heheh. The PO is kicking my backside. May need all the tricks up my sleeve to pull off a win here....

As well, I am re-reading Beever's book.

There should be a law against having this much fun... [:D]

I have found an old scenario on the net that I would like to take a peek at in the editor.
It won't open in TOAW-3, probably because it's from the original TOAW or something.
Can anybody help me with converting it?

Send it my way, I'll see what I can do. I still have TOAW I installed on a Virtual PC Win98. My email address is in my profile.

FWIW, I like France 1940 (as the Germans), if you go in and remove all the reconstitution. Nothing quite as fun blasting through the Ardennes using your armor as it was meant to be used, breaking through the slow French and Brits and cutting them off... fun.

I will also put in a plug for my War in Europe scenario, which I am fixing up now that we aren't limited to 32 supply points any more... It's not Europe Aflame, but it can be fun...

I personally recommend Korea 50-51 as well as The Campaign for North Africa.

I'm currently playing Fortress Stalingrad from TOAW I Elite Edition.

I had forgotten how great this game is. Soooo.... I'll be picking up TOAW III in the near future.

Any who... I thought I'd post a few pictures of my battle so far.

I'm playing as the Axis:

1) Here you can see that the 6th Army is surrounded and is being hard-pressed by several Soviet Armies: the 24th Army (North), the 62nd Army (East), the 64th Army (South), the 57th Army (bottom left), and the 21 st Army (West):




2) Here elements of 4th Panzer and 27th Panzer are engaging the Soviet 5th Tank Corps. My plan is to surround the 5th Tank Corps and annihilate it before Soviet reinforcements can come to its aid:





3) In the north-west the Italian and Romanian Armies are being badly mauled in counter-attacks by the Soviet 3rd Guard Army as it smashes its way through the Axis lines. I must send fresh troops to hold the line before the Soviets can surround and destroy these Axis forces:

Here is the situation on Turn 10 (December 20, 1942):

1) At Stalingrad, I am attempting to encircle and destroy both the Soviet 62nd and 64th Armies (indicated by black arrows) before the Soviet 66th Army (north of me) can press my northern sector and flank my eastern position (indicated by red arrows). If I can knock out these two Soviet Armies, my eastern sector will be safe and I will be able to wheel my forces to deal with the huge Soviet Armies in the north, west and south-west sectors:




2) Just west of Stalingrad the Soviet 21st and 5th Tank Armies are pressing hard on the 4th Panzer and 27th Panzer Armies (indicated by red arrows). As you can see they are attempting to encircle my Axis forces. I, in turn, am seeking to cut them off (indicated by black arrows). Here we see classic maneuver warfare in action:





3) In the north-west the Italian and Romanian Armies are barely holding the line against the 3rd Guard Army. I have sent elements of 4th Panzer Army to help stop the Soviet breakthrough. I am also attempting to encircle the Soviet Army on its left and right flanks:
