Hi there. Just got ANW and just finished reading this thread. Still have some questions.

First, the facts. Alienware laptop, dual core 3.2GHz, 2GB RAM, two displays:

1680 x 1050 (main)
1280 x 1024 (second)

My goal is to run Harpoon ANW (a) in windowed mode (b) across both monitors. The VideoHeight/VideoWidth options described in the wiki seem to indicate that I can set any resolution I want (in windowed mode, again), so if I could set the resoltion to (e.g.) 2900 x 900 it ought to fit.

What I've found, however, is that the VideoHeight/VideoWidth options seem to be ignored, even when I set them to something that would fit on my main display but is not what's specified in the SVGAMode setting. I can't seem to get by without the SVGAMode setting, either, even though the wiki indicates that there is a precendence with VideoHeight/VideoWidth at the top.

So, do the VideoHeight/VideoWidth options actually do anything and can they be set to do what I want? Does Harpoon ANW depend on being at a common aspect ratio (4:3) anywa, even when running in windowed mode (seems like it does -- I'm guessing interface window geometery and such is based on the aspect ratio, even in-window)?

EDIT: This is what lead me to believe this was possible, from the wiki in the Harpoon ANW changes page:

"...Custom screen resolution allow much more flexibility in setting Harpoon 3 window size

The Harpoon 3 game engine and Launcher have been adjusted to give you much more flexibility in managing the Harpoon 3 screen size. You can now set the width and hight of your Harpoon 3 window to arbitrary values up to a little bit below the resolution of your Windows desktop. Go ahead and play Harpoon 3 on the huge screens with your custom resolution..."

This only works in 3.7.1 and later versions.

Ah, yes -- I just figured this out this morning, actually. And indeed it does work in v3.7.1 :) . 1600x900, in point of fact. Very nice.

Now that's out of the way, I've caught up with the v3.7.1 vs. v3.7.3 stuff and was curious what the ETA was on v3.7.3 (living in beta country always gives me hives)?

Either way, it's nice to be able to play Harpoon again. I can't even remember what computer I had when I first played it but it was a mighty long time ago and I still think it's one of the most immersive games I've played.

I think I've bought hundreds of games over the years, and the top 5 is still something like this (in no particular order):

- NetHack (Hack, Rougue, Moria, etc.)
- Harpoon
- Various incarnations of Elite
- EvE Online (nope, played WoW and it doesn't rate)
- Steel Beasts (esp. Steel Beasts Pro PE)
