There is very little action going on due to the mud so I am going to pass on doing any updates until the last mud turn, when i will lay out my plans and what I think will happen. Seeing as the German player has only 2.6 million men right now I cannot foresee to much action on his part. Think he should dig in and counter me to be honest.

It is turn 43 right now and map looks like it was for turn 41[:D] One thing I did do was convert about a dozen armored corps and they are under good armor commanders and put in reserve.

Maybe this is something Trey or Pavel can respond to: historically, beginning 1942, were the experience levels for German units still high, like mid 1941?  I suppose this is sort of answered by whatever numbers are plugged in for the 1942 scenarios but I haven't played any of them.

From what I am reading it seems the Germans are experiencing experience hits when the men lost during the winter are coming back. Although the Germans did lose experienced personnel the loss was not as severe until late 42 and into 43 (at least from how I read the history books[:D]) and it may be a little to severe and needs to be tweaked a little bit. And no amount of experience will make up for being outnumbered 2.5 to 1 starting in the Summer of 42[X(].

I must be careful because I read both sides on this one, but yes, he's done some damage. Look at the forces it required him to commit to doing so. Nuff said.

I definitely won't go down without a decent fight, although this war is lost...

Looks like you're refighting the turf West of Smolensk. That can only mean he is in an impossible situation because you're getting stronger and he is getting weaker. He won't even get as far as he did the first year before you start pushing him back again.

Edit: meant to be a reply to Miller41.

He has been clobbered by the upgrade bug and the replacement experience bug. His army is a shell of it's former self. His experience levels in most units are probably not much better than the Romanians. His morale is higher though. His infantry are basically useless in the attack.

I am speaking from experience not from his AAR.

They were still high. 70+

The numbers you find in the 42 scenario are indeed the benchmark we're looking at.

As a rule of thumb, you can look at the yearly national morale norms for each army and use that as a basis for determining the intended result. Right now, pre patch, German experience in 42 is not meeting those norms. This is a problem. Hopefully it's been corrected, although we may have to tweak things further.

I actually think we are playing this more for fun now than to completion. Although I cannot speak for Belphigor 100% I believe he does realize this is a no win situation for him and he is going to get bull rushed this summer.

Apologies for taking so long to post, had a back injury and am out of work for several days so sitting is difficult. We are on turn 47, the beginning of May 42 and the german player decided to stand of defense. Me being who I am decided to attack where I thought I could back him off and did break thru in one area. It is a limited one and i have a feeling his armor will beat it down but I got a HQ to retreat so that is something. Am massing all my guards divisions for conversion in June behind the lines.

Here are the losses so far after my turn

The small offensive. This should draw german troops to the area.

Kursk area, I may get attacked here as he has armor right near the flank of my advance. My attack here may be prodding a sleeping dragon.[&o]

Yep, he has been butchered by the bugs. Look at those division CV. Mercy on his soul for continuing.

Jeez, you still have security regiments wandering around?  I would have disbanded them by now, except for ones guarding the Finn line.

Well I will offer to restart with this patch, but he may want to continue to see how things go.

He might. Me and Oleg have restarted. I had to surrender to get it though. (sour taste in my mouth). But the game goes on.

Are we looking at something like what happened in WiR? Where we will have to have a rule that the first blizzard the Russians won't attack, to make it more balanced?

Eh?? No. I am pretty certain the developers will do their best to fix this thing [8D] Germans should get some... AND still launch some sort of offensive on 1942 (as opposed to an all-attack along the whole front [;)]).
