fine, but unfortunately your spearheads can't really support each other - the thing is, after catching infantry corps in the first round, one will usually hunting for tanks and cav corps in the next...
I doubt he has many of those tbh. Allready taken out alot of his cav units, same goes for tank brigades. But we will see, the chance is too good to be wasted imo.

500 Administrative points - wow. That is proper management.
It is march of '42 in my current game and I never managed to have more than 30 (more less) at the end of the turn. And I need to mention, that I "achieved" it not having single fortified region built so far.

Hey Terje,
the German Panzer troops would say something like "Die Russen im offenen Gelände ohne Deckung?! Angriff!". I've never heard anybody speaking about "Russkies". [:D]
Awesome job! You have almost reached the historical front lines. You have still the offensive on your side while in reality the Army Group South was fighting for survival. This time Brad has really make an effort to reach Berlin.
Are you trying for some kind of Citadel offensive? You have the same deployment areas (Kharkov and Orel) and your southern wing seems much stronger.

Not sure what Brad is up to really. Is he not defending in depth at all Terje or is it just a lack of recon on your part?
Single line of russians is just asking for trouble, especially in the south with all that open ground and in the winter rivers a useless as you so well know =)

Russkies. Hmm maybe a made up Norwegian word then [:)]
Problem is my severe lack of tanks, but we shall see how it plays out. I do however fear that it WILL become Citadelle [:D]

Either he does not have any reserves or he has done a VERY good job at hiding them.

Turn 81
Overall
We prepare to launch the last attack NEXT turn as we simply had to relocate some forces, and our panzers had to help take Orel and Kharkov. 28 attacks resulted in 1 held, 19 retreats, 4 routs and 4 surrenders. No more armaments is a slight bump in the road though...
If I calculate with 2 divisions per corps and 3 brigades per division, we have so far destroyed somewhat above 500 divisions worth of USSR units...
USSR units in pockets at start of turn
12.
USSR units in pockets at end of turn
0.
Losses
USSR : 225.000 troops, 3.218 guns, 205 AFVs, 306 AC.
Axis : 45.000 troops, 345 guns, 75 AFVs, 25 AC.
USSR units lost
2 rifle corps, 9 rifle divisions, 1 mountain division, 1 naval rifle brigade, 1 PVO AA regiment.
Partisans hunted down
7.
German pools
Manpower : 224
Vehicles : 192.989

Bye bye armaments...

Russkies ( singular = Russky) was in common use in England in the 60's and 70's. It probably came from WWII and the belief that all Rusian names ended in '...sky'
I used it as the standard word for the Russians.
In the 1980s in the army it was 'Russians' but always preceded by the words 'hairy-arsed'. The subject of Russian lady soldiers never came up, so I never found out how hairy they were, and I don't think my wife would let me find out now[&:]

Turn 82
Overall
No big pocket formed, instead we only managed two smaller ones, but right now I have the USSR in a good position for me, with alot of units in the open, so we will have to keep attacking further still. It gets even more important now that the USSR corps production will be increased. Bag 2 divisions and 1 brigade, and that corps is 25 points more expensive all of a sudden. That being said, my forces are being worn down now, and that I can ill afford, so I guess Iæm damned if I do and damned if I don't... Oh well.
The USSR attacked a small stack of Italians this turn and caused a retreat. Fair enough, those Italians will not hang around much longer anyway, so reducing their manpower pool a bit is no big deal.
We launched 46 attacks and scored 12 helds, 33 retreats and 1 rout. Not good enough, but not too bad either. Add in the pockets we formed, and I will take this turn and say "thank you".

USSR units in pockets at end of turn
15, one is an army HQ, so that one does not count.
Losses
USSR : 124.000 troops, 1.945 guns, 150 AFVs, 399 AC.
Axis : 52.000 troops, 554 guns, 103 AFVs, 53 AC.
USSR units lost
None.
German units disbanded
1 LW Field Division.

I would say you have the ap crunch going and the SHC is having a hard time building up strength. His CV looks amazing crappy for this time in game. I say your doing everything right and hes doing something wrong on the other side.
Can u post the OOB? and Losses screen next turn, interesting game.

Sure, will do

Well, according to Brad he has reserves far behind the front, but I do not believe it to be so. He also claims to have 500 points banked to build corps this turn. That is more believable.
Nevertheless, my strength is disappearing quickly now, and I am just not sure how long I will be able to hang on. Another issue ofc is the shape of the front. It is consuming ALOT of units, I need to think something up to fix that situation as well...

Go over to defensive at some point.
You could start changing over on parts of the front that are "dead"
Stop any attacks other then ones that pocket units. Every attack is a bad ratio in 42 other then ones that lead to pockets or retreats.

Turn 83
Overall
A rather good turn I would state. Although the small pocket at Kursk is reopened by a USSR attack, that was something I anticipated as the attacked hex was guarded by Axis minoirs. However I think Brad should have let them be, as I am now threathening far more units. Although we formed a nice pocket, we did not have the MP to seal it properly, but I anticipate more trapped USSR units next turn. Further good news is that we have been given another PROPER division to play with, and that some units have been relocated, so that we are now once more able to (more or less) guard the territory taken.
44 attacks resulted in 5 helds, 32 retreats, 3 routs, 1 shatter and 3 surrenders.
The picture below is somewhat congested, for that I apologize, but I wanted to show the pocket as well as OOB and losses as requested.
USSR units in pockets at start of turn
9.
USSR units in pockets at end of turn
23, but it will be reopened.
Losses
USSR : 157.000 troops, 2.407 guns, 183 AFVs, 517 AC.
Axis : 49.000 troops, 449 guns, 104 AFVs, 50 AC.
USSR units lost
7 rifle divisions, 1 tank brigade, 1 Army HQ relocated.
German units disbanded
2 LW Field Divisions.
Partisans hunted down
4.

Turn 84
Overall
"Citadelle" is over, the result a smashing Axis victory. 29 USSR units trapped, granted, two are HQs and most are divisions (with 1 corps and a few brigades), but still, it feels nice [:)]. It also allows us to (if we decide to) to push even further east, although that is not the best of options as I really can do without a longer front.
49 attacks resulted in 6 helds, 39 retreats and 4 routs this turn.
Number of destroyed USSR units is also nice reading. With a cautios ratio of divisions in corps and a generous ammount of brigades in divisions, we still tally some 530 USSR divisions worth destroyed...
USSR units in pockets at start of turn
0.
USSR units in pockets at end of turn
29, but two of these are HQs.
Losses
USSR : 125.000 troops, 1.910 guns, 52 AFVs, 6(???) AC.
Axis : 49.000 troops, 521 guns, 97 AFVs, 67 AC.
USSR units lost
None.
German units disbanded
2 LW Field Divisions.
Partisans hunted down
6.
German pools
Manpower : 18.063
Vehicles : 179.477
Armaments : 29.115
