Id watch for a bombardment and maybe another air attack. Remember it has to be bombs and not TTs. So that's a good thing. I hope all your planes are off the CVs and on dry land to help defend the ships. Set up a strike but I doubt he will come into strike range of your AC.

September 28, 1942

Ceylon: RN HQ: The IJN spotted SSW of Ceylon at 320nm, heading SSW. No raid today. The review of the shipyards to follow in several days.

Burma: Prome and Lashio are hit by the RAF. Four Blenheim’s are shot down over Prome. Some IJA units are moving west from the Chinese positions in the mountains.

China: Our surrounded army SSE of Chungking is attacked hard from the air but USAF and Chinese fighter squadrons disperse and down enough aircraft to temper the results some. The 26th AG is ordered to attack on the 29th.

SwPac: It looks as though two Naval Guards units and another to be identified are marching on Terapo. B17s are ordered to hit them again tomorrow. Terapo is supplied, behind forts, and well led. IJAF hits Day Waters again. We will reply tomorrow in kind.

CenPac: The IJN TF has disappeared to the west south of Tabitueua.

NorPac: The Japanese have received replacement aircraft on Adak. F4s keep watch here.

September 29, 1942

NorPac:CenPac: quiet

SoPac: Small sub skirmish off Pago Pago.

SwPac: I wonder how close the IJA troops are to Terapo. B17s do little damage today in clear weather.

Burma: Rangoon hit by B17s and P38s. We lose two heavies in the raid. The field is proving difficult to close. Prome is hit by the RAF. The Flak here is heavy, but the fields stay closed.

Ceylon: CATS spot the KB SSE of the island heading east.

China: The surrounded army SE of Chungking holds one more day to determined Japanese efforts to annihilate the pocket. 20th Group Army liberates Kienko. The IJA is pissed and spreading out across the plains. To gamey to go after them with B17s across the Himalayas

Zulu, how many points in ground losses has your opponent taken so far this game? In seemingly every other post you manage to inflict massive casualties to the IJA (or he manages to inflict them on himself.) Just curious what the point differential is here.

Sorry for taking a couple of days to respond, but to answer your question, that's a lot of Japanese ground losses.
Perspective - against Cannon I had less than 500 points in total land losses when our game ended. PBEM before that (where I played the Chinese theater poorly as Japan) I still had less than half of the losses your opponent has suffered at this stage in the game. Carrier battles aside, you are doing very well in the ground game here.

That is good to hear. As I am about to open the replay for October 6th, I can feel the trapped Chinese army slipping away. They withstood another two shock attacks since my last post, but alas, the writing long on the wall, is inevitable soon. I have felt that I have really decimated some IJA divisions since being pushed out of Changsha. Pity none have been destroyed. The vast majority of IJA losses are from China though as I only roughed up one division in CenPac and I do not recall heavy losses for them in the PI or Malaya.

October 6, 1942

NorPac: The Japanese have refurbished their air groups and small escort and Maru’s are spotted at Adak. Dutch Harbor finally reaches AF2 as winter approaches.

United States: Operation Wingfoot continues in full swing. The new AKA’s are desperately needed as operations will have to be of the “swift” variety.

CenPac: Nightly raids over Baker Island is ominous. The Japanese consolidate their CenPac victory.

SoPac: The Hornet and Lexington repair quickly. I hope to have the Hornet at sea by months end and Lexington before X-mas. They will both need yard work, but not so many weeks.

SwPac: The 27th Infantry Division arrives along with support. They rest while I contemplate more on the situation. The 40th Division will arrive soon as well. Marines relieve the Americal Division which will join the 27th and 40th before long.

Burma: Air power building. Larger support units arrive. The USAF has a large presence in China now trying to stave off the IJAF over the clear terrain on the Chungking plains. We lost the Australian MG Bn today in action east of Lashio. I do not have enough strength in the jungle for a push.

China: The fighting is heavy and widespread. The IJ want to eliminate China from the war. Perhaps the last gasp of our surrounded friends south on Chungking was heard today

Nice job with roughing up all those Jap LCUs. I count 11 IDs, and 6 Bdes that need a lot of RR. I would like to think that at some point this stack is going to break if he keeps attacking you.

October 8, 1942

Joe: I sure hope those units can’t help much with an assault on Chungking! I have well over 4000av holed up there now. I am contemplating a limited counter offensive from Chungking just to see how strong he really is.

China: The pocket holds another day, although losses are now very heavy with all units showing zero av. To the south, the 26th Army group brushes aside an IJA tank unit and retakes Chihkiang. I am trying to surround an IJA formation to the north as well. China is fluid and bloody. I will not go quietly. B17s brave the Himalayas and strike IJA units in the plains. RAF Liberators have arrived and will participate as well. USAF Liberators are due in Karachi in days.

Burma: Large combo airstrike planned for the 9th. Reinforcements are close to reaching the 6th Aussies deep in the northern jungles while Chinese formations arrive from the east.

SwPac: I may have a plan.

CenPac: Impotent. Supplies in fuel and supply well over 1,ooo,ooo pts each. Three divisions await deployment.

NorPac: Some sparring.

Nice to see you posting Alfred.

I had the same problem Bullwinkle helped me fix it.

I had that problem and did a thread on it about two weeks ago. You need to go into Compatibility View Settings under toolbar Tools and add the site in the white box. Fixes everything except, for me, the right-click cut & paste menu. I have to use keyboard shortcuts now.

It is due to the IE11 upgrade so far as I could tell. Copy and pasted from another thread by Bullwinkle.

That worked. I have not tried cut and paste yet. I don't remember the short cut keys so I hope it works as well.

CBI: USAF B24s arrive in Karachi. This is perfect timing. Air strikes ordered over Prome and Lashio on the 11th.

SwPac: Darwin survivors press on through relentless bombing while IJA troops arrive on the perimeter of Terapo.

SoPac: Hornet is almost ready to sail.

This position has cost the Imperial Japanese dearly and I hope a counter stroke by 20th Army group will counter the massive Chinese losses there. I would like to get into some detail about what the plan is here but I’m just going to post the map tonight leaving a little wonder or as here at Zulu HQ, the TWITs refer to as WTF.[/font]

Burma: The Prom raid is a bust. Nothing flies against the base. Lashio is hit unopposed by small squadron of single engine types. In the mountains east of Lashio the IJA has strong units moving back toward the Chinese lines. They are hit by a landslide of B25s today and punished.

[font=calibri]Burma: While recon indicates a good deal of damage at Prome, two days ago the IJAF reoccupied the fields. Recon photos show over 70 fighters on the ground. I order the USAF in this time and everyone flies and the co-ordination is perfect. Two squadrons of P38s sweep ahead of two squadrons of Fortresses. It’s a good day for us in the air over Prome, downing close to 40 Zeros and getting some more on the ground. RAF Liberators join four squadrons of Mitchells and hit IJA positions in the mountains on the Chinese perimeter. Results are ok. I hope to keep him disrupted as I prepare another effort to cut him off east of Lashio.[/font]

[font=calibri]China: The IJA seems to be getting used to the Chungking plains. Another strong force of Japanese are blitzing there way west north of Sian. I may reinforce the fighters there with another squadron soon. The pocket is eliminated.[/font]

Operation Wingfoot: Base forces railhead in Australia as advance parties for the combat units assembling. 6,ooo pts of oil arrive at Melbourne today. I hope this eases the fuel situation somewhat. IJN BBs are sighted by Sub and air assets closing on Milne Bay. They are heading for Terapo, I’m sure. Two companies of New Zealand pioneers railhead to transports for deployment in French held areas to build fields. The 43rd, 38th, and 30th bomb groups load for SwPac. CVE Copahee puts to sea with Marine aviators. The 76th AA, 178th UAAF BF, 57th CD also load for SwPac and SoPac.
