wow, you get some serious good die rolls. One really has to feel for your enemy. Having 3 times more fully prepped units than you against less opposition I took 5 times more losses in the first attack alone, after something like a dozen naval bombardments. Wonder if that was all that damned river crossing. [8|]
Besides that, why did you shock attack? Your enemy's adjusted av is just horrible. You should have more problems here when thinking about the odds compared to Luzon. But if you get the same rolls again, it was a cake walk with less losses the usual attack on Singapore causes that only gets a 2x bonus for urban light.

I don't think that is what happens. The message will say shock attack if any unit does that, but the other units can still make deliberate attacks or bombardment attacks.ORIGINAL: Cribtop
The paras marching in over the rivers convert the whole thing into a shock attack, so be careful. That said, a tremendous result and I think the base is doomed. Two more attacks to kill forts, you will take it on the second or third attack.
Why let them retreat at all? I'd kamikaze another unit to close the last hexside.
In all seriousness, it looks like you didn't bring in enough artillery to wear him down.ORIGINAL: ny59giants
Which hexside and/or hex are you leaving open so the Allied troops can retreat out of Calcutta??
Sian - that will leave a big mark!!In all seriousness, it looks like you didn't bring in enough artillery to wear him down.

He did already, post # 405 was the Allied attack. [8D]ORIGINAL: Lowpe
I seriously doubt he has the supplies in Sian to attack, especially the next day.
I take it you cut the railroad line to the north...he will be hard pressed to get supply there.[:)]
You will win here, it will just take longer than you had hoped.

you just have to put a small unit into the hex SE of it, you don't even need to cross over into the town. Just close the retreat path and they are done.

Hi Greyjoy,
Shock attack into Sian, over the river, with all your troops, in the face of a yet undefeated army, like a true IJA general...
Seriously, I don't read Erik's AAR, but it really looks like he is playing China correctly. He has been carefully avoiding battle, to let his units rebuild from the heavy disablements they begin the game with. And as a result, he ends up around Sian, in a perfectly defensible area, with several 300+ AV corps, which won't allow him to keep Sian in the end, but will win him time. And you have just given him a few more months.
This said, vexing as it might be, this doesn't change your situation in China. Just fall back around Sian, and try to cut the road to Lanchow (this is exactly why you need to take Yenan early, imho). He will not be able to counterattack very long, for lack of supplies, and the big stack in Sian will need to be fed. Then, consolidate over the road from , and bring guns and bombers...
You've probably lost a few weeks here, but those are just a few weeks, and you hold Northern China, in early 42.

isn't Shanghai a lvl 8 or 9 port? Shouldn't it be easily big enough to replenish BB main ammo?
To the Suez! [:D]The question is: how further should i advance in India?
