as recon showed only 54% damage to Chungking's airfield we were switching back to airfield attack today and during the replay I had a short shock moment seeing my bombers destroying/damaging enemy fighters here... there's no airfield sign on the map so all enemy fighters at Chungking must be damaged and it must be hard to get them operational but it was a surprise for sure... perhaps the fighters were disbanded at some point and were showing up at Chungking these days again... reminds me of making sure the airfield stays damaged... a dozen enemy fighters reported destroyed on the ground today...

Looks like I'm either wrong in what I'm doing or my R&D has just run into a bug. I had an airframe advancing a month this turn and all my R&D factories turned into producing factories while I had them all on keep and production off. No idea what's going on, I can't remember ever seeing my factories turning into producing ones using these settings. I might just not have noticed it as I usually switch them to the follow on model when the factories turn blue to avoid exactly what has happened this turn but I thought I was safe using these settings.

I hate redoing turns but asked Mundy if he would agree to redo that turn (nothing happened during the replay), otherwhise a major part of my R&D is screwed and I can as well hand in the game as it would mean throwing away hundreds of thousand supply points for no gain. [:(]

Or see if you can just switch the setting to allow you to send them back to researching the next model, then go back to the original setting. That is, from Realistic R&D on, to off, reset your research, the back to on.

Mundy agreed to redo the turn without any discussion about it which just once again shows what a great opponent he is as redoing turns is no matter of course...

Calcutta area is always on my list in any campaigns but it mostly depends on what the opponent is doing. In this case we could pretty much do what we wanted to after the early defeats of the enemy Navies and the failed forward defenses. If all that stuff would have defended the area around Calcutta and Port Moresby instead of Rabaul and Port Blair it all might look different. At least I would have thought twice about going for it.

I agree. Calcutta offers so much for the IJ and so close. If it is served up, take it.

not so much there as I would have liked as my tank units shock attacking across the river into Calcutta took the base on the first attempt damaging all the industry, only 1/3 left there. So instead of around 1000 supply/day its only 300. Took Ledo's oil and refineries nearly intact though so we get enough fuel for all the HI up there.
