RE: Target practice in the Indian Ocean

Hi guys! I'll try to answer your questions as they come...
I don't think you should overestimate the effect of the Indian gambit! Now as people are aware of the danger, they will also be in a better position to anticipate their opponents move. E.g - one of the really BIG advantages of going against India is that most of Japans ships and divisions ends up around Singapore after finishing off enemy opposition in the DEI.
If you see a lot of ships leaving the theatre and heading south towards Australia, New Guinea or the Solomons...then you should have a pretty good idea about what's up. A massed concentration of Jap forces means that you should probably move out of Burma ASAP!
Personally, I wouldn't abandon Burma - moving in some Chinese and building forts at evey crossroad and base is an excellent way of slowing the Japs down. Malaria will have its effect as soon as they leave Rangoon. If you manage to capture Burma with a single division - then the defender has made a big mistake. I would expect nothing less than an Army would be needed to achieve this. Personally I only got a brigade + supportive units in Burma, and I'm only slowly driving Al's Chinese troops back by feinting flanking movements.
Not sure about what effect cutting Burma of from China got - India got enough supplies, so the Chinks should certainly feel a sting as the Burma Road runs dry [:D]
Hm, not really! I've been playing Battles in Normandy - great game btw! [8D] Perhaps I needed a little break, but it was a little annoying that 2ndACR also had to put our game on hold though. Been without a WitP turn for 14 straight days now!
[:(]
Also got a little worried that Al might be feeling the squeeze - in his last email he stated that WitP was a very depressing game that was driving him nutters... Guess that's how any Allied CinC feels after 6 months of relentless pressure [;)] So I hope a few weeks off will see him back in fighting shape again.
Much of my strategy is actually based o empty water and a bit of bluff. The Indian gambit ties up a lot of resources, and in reality I'm now at the mercy of the Americans far earlier than I would like. The best I can hope for is a slow advance up the Solomons or a rash landing in the Marshalls - I got a bit of resources here now. Otherwise I will continue to sail around showing the flag when I know that the pesky yankee birdfarms ain't around!
It's all about keeping it all together until I can squeeze the life out of the British Empire and destroy enough enemy troops to win a decisive victory. I hold absolutely NO illusions about how life - or lack off - will be in a pre 1943 era. That belongs under the 'you don't wanna know' category [8|]

As I look at this AAR it makes me wonder what the effect of NOT fighting for Burma will have on the game. Lots of allied players are leaving Burma weak so its falling pretty fast. Does this mean that China gets weaker from lack of supply? Can the Japanese players put more troops into SW Pacific or some other point maybe North OZ if Burma will fall to a division?
By changing the allied defense of Burma you have created implecations for other parts of the map PzB.
Personally the Japanese just captured 12,000 troops in Rangoon Feb 14th 42 but I can't reveal my over all plan for the area just yet.

PZB. Given the temporary succession of hostilities, have you opted to change anything that you were going to do? Or has the time off solidified your strategy. I ask because a number of times I “think” myself out of doing moves that I normally wouldn’t if I didn’t have a day or so to think on it.
