You can't use a movie in a historical quote discussion. That's like bringing up Tie fighters when trying to decide which Jap fighters to R and D.[:-]
Seems only fair to me. Have you seen what's on the Essex class in this game? [X(]

Convoy TK-5 moved past Hong Kong and is now in its most important stretch. Two days needed to thread their way thru the Formosa Strait and then on to home.
Man you have nerves of steel![&o] In future you might be able to drop at Hong Kong and from there it will flow to Fusan/Port Arthur if the Formosa Strait is closed on you.

I think he could probably drop at CRB or Haiphong/Hanoi too and 'walk' it back to Shanghai or Port Arthur too. But, yeah, the risk is probably exceeding the reward of running the strait at this point. Especially since those oilers and tankers are worth a pretty penny VP-wise.

There is little doubt that I, probably, will not be able to shoot another large TK TF through the Formosa Area. If I cannot then I am now planning on bringing the Fleet together to serve as a massed escort and CAP Trap to fight the TKs out through Dan's soft underbelly. THIS TK TF would be IMMENSE. I would work to bring 400-500,000 Fuel/Oil back to Japan.
It is gutsy but might be worth the risk. Will know in about a month as whether or not this will be the plan.
BTW, I like this idea very much. [8D]
May I propose that you put together two TK / AO fleets? The first-smaller than the second-will be comprised exclusively of empty TKs. The second-following shortly thereafter but hidden / disbanded at a dot hex somewhere unnoticed-would contain the ones laden with fuel and oil.
The escorted empty TF can be used as a LRCAP trap bait ball or to lure some surface combatants towards it. I would venture that many Allied players would hazard everything to intercept a laden oiler convoy. If you can get some surface combatants drawn towards it and away from the Deathstar umbrella, that may be a good stage for your initial
tokkotai swarm. Bonus points for doing this away from land-based LRCAP.
There are lots of ways to play this, but they all revolve around the Allies long-standing fixation on the Japanese oiler fleet. For the first several years of the war, they are absolutely right in focusing on bashing Japan's oil / fuel supply. But you can benefit when the oiler 'paradigm' changes, as it's about to do. Pretty soon, other than a VP value, the oiler fleet will be an afterthought for the Japanese. Its deployment will be a liability rather than an asset. Only *you* know exactly when that paradigm changes. The Allies will be operating under their previous assumptions until they learn otherwise. Spin that-information you have that they don't-to your advantage while you can. After all, who brings
empty oilers back from the DEI towards the home islands to act as bait? They've *got* to be legitimate targets, right? [:)]

This particular post is superfluous and totally unnecessary. It only serves to bring your AAR above Canoerebel's on the list for the time being. [8D]

Hope you know I was just being humorous about the quote stuff, don't take it serious.
Totally. Just having fun. [8D]
I didn't think something in this hemisphere, on this continent would be so quintessentially 'tropical disease'. But that certainly qualifies!
Gatun, Panama is one of the worst places on earth for rain and heat.
No pics but I got a video. Posted it once last before maybe.
Alpha Company underwent several unit changes but we always considered ourselves "508th Moatengators". We also lay claim to "The Unknown Ranger Company."

At this point does Japan strip it's forces in China of all it can and send them to the Home Islands?

Many thanks![&o] BTW, my eldest son is a winter Ranger, and is deployed somewhere rather nasty right now. Not very comfortable for the parents to be sure. [:(]

I am producing a final batch that comes out in about ten days. Nearly everything else is shut down. These are mostly the small AKL that I plan to use for CAP Trap bait in the future...

A "what if" mod that added I-351-class submarines and added them earlier would interesting. If a sub-tanker could be implemented.
What mischief could you cause with 10 sub-tankers?

Notice is served to the Allies this day. A Daitai of 27 ZEROs depart Kendari with their target being Ternate. Ten planes get thru the CAP over an Allied Invasion TF. Of those ten THREE deliberately crash into 2 AP and an AK.
The Kamikaze is here...
