Don't forget the western Aleutians as he may try to cut off your resupply and reinforce efforts. That is the only other one that could be a possibility. He would to cut off the head (kuriles, etc.) before he could destroy it.

We're not looking at VPs so it doesn't really matter in our game....

But i have my full CVs in the kuriles...how can he avoid a fight if he goes there?

Anyway, in less than a week my CVs will be free from supporting landing ops and will be ready to defend anything he wanna invade from PH up to the Aleutinas. I'll use my CVEs to escort my convoys and my CVs as a mobile force.
Now i have so many CVEs that they may become a problem to deal with even for the KB...for sure the KB will win a fight, but i doubt it will come out without a scratch...and with my fast CVs around....well, it wouldn't be the safest strategy for rader.

Anyway, even if he invades the aleutinas (which are, btw, decently guarded and fortified), i don't think this will push me out of Okkaido...
The only thing that can really change the strategic situation now is a carrier battle won by japan

Seriously...he could try...yes...but i really don't see how can he do that untill my CVs are afloat... i have 14 CVs and 10 CVLs roaming around

The more i think of it the more i'm sure Rader is up to something....i dont believe that he's not trying to interdict me in any way.... where is his fleet? What is he orchestrating? a counterinvasion somewhere else!? But where...which could be his targets? India is out of question... Oz?...the same i think...

It is hard to imagine that Rader would plan anything other than a move to defeat your invasion. Right now, you could lose Pearl Harbor and it would not alter his strategic problem in Northern Japan. I can only see him moving to attack Hokkaido or your supply lines. Nothing else makes sense or will benefit him. You can turn over all of OZ and India to him now and he will still lose the game if you are allowed to bomb his industry.

Once you think you are secure enough in the North, I suggest a move to threaten his oil production. If you capture Siboret Island and a few surrounding islands for support then you will have a level 9 airfield and your bombers will be in range to all the DEI oilfields. Rader will have no choice but to remove fighters from Japan to defend his oil fields. If he does not then he will be faced with another dilemma. The denial of DEI oil means slow starvation for the Japanese economy anyways. He can choose his poison..[;)]

One other thing, I have yet to find any difference between normal fighters and night fighters in night actions. You will be just as well served using the smaller British and Aussie squadrons as night fighters as you would any designated night fighter unit. Basically any unit on night patrol will not shoot down much but will turn un-escorted bombers away and lessen the effect of the ones that do bomb. P39s are good for this as well.

And this begs the question that I really don't know. Once in range of Japan's industry what targets are the most efficient to bomb? That is, what key industry should be hit first-refineries, resources, manpower, factories or shipyards. What do you think fanboys?

Don't over-rely on CVEs to cover convoys, they tend to go up like torches when hit. Two kami hits is usually enough to sink them......

A fast and brief update...very little time today.

We made our first skirmish against his troops north of Hakkodate...2200 AVs...nearly 100k men...

In NG Rader set up a little counteroffensive. The 1st Guards Div attacked, after an heavy air bombing conducted by 140 Helens, a NZ bde, pushing her Back towards the coast. We're sending the 27th US Division to deal with those buggers. Rader lost 26 helens due to my badly coordinated leaky CAP (no Radar with the NZ bde---)

We landed at Toyahara and we got badly disabled by the little preparation we had...but tomorrow we're gonna attack no matter what.

No Kami today...

Tomorrow, thanks to NY59, we're gonna hit Harbin with 180 4Es...

Those depot divisions are lousy troops. Low morale and poor equipment. Sort of like Chinese divisions. Home guard basically.

BUT,

Having about 100 CAP up over a convoy can be a deterrant or make it expensive to try.

The most remarkable part of Greyjoy's Northern Invasion is not its target or the misdirection campaign, not even Greyjoy's SigInt analyzis that enabled it, but his courage and determination in pursuing his objective. As far as I can see, not many players have enough mental fortitude to bet the entire game on a semi-blind deep invasion, based on information that will inevitably be dated by the time troops hit the beaches. Particularly when lured with the perspective of a near-inevitable eventual win through low-risk means. I know that I probably don't. Seeing as Greyjoy is a first-time player, I can only salute him and his progress.

I find the NF work OK, over okinawa my P61 usually claim 1 victory and 2-3 damaged out of a raid of 20+. Lots of raids turn around as well without loss. Given AI carried & ground RADAR this seems reasonable. I havent had many P61 shot down which is fair given the poor defensive armaments and lack of RADAR in the IJAAF bombers.

Try Beaufighters or anything with heavy armament really, you'll see that they are no less effective. Although the last might have fixed that.

Well it they won't stop the KB, but it will keep those long range Betty's at bay and will allow you to take more direct routes. Between those the LBA, you should have few problems except the KB
