[:)]If you like live concerts, try Yes,"SongsFrom Tsongas",their 35th anniversary concert, which I think is their best one, although there are quite a few other great concerts too.Jeff Beck live at Ronnie Scotts is a ripper, and Jeff Beck Rock'n'Roll Party concert is a nice one.Moody Blues have some pretty good concerts too.I saw Yes live in my home city,Melbourne,2003,and they played so cool!Peter.

Those of you who like synth pop might well be interested in hearing my friend and neighbour John Costello's music. He is recording an album at present. https://youtu.be/pyeRgjixEMg

Thanks for sharing! I like the synth rhythms [:)] but the synth voice kind of detracts from the piece [:(] in IMHO!

Great band - can easily fill a top 10 with A-ha tracks.

Here's one of their very best - Lifelines [&o]

Although a Norwegian, I've never been that into a-Ha, but for those that like the band, they have just announced that they will reunite [:)]

I'd definitely go and see them again for the great music - although sadly the lead singer has all the moves and dynamism of a bowl of stodgy custard......

My top three "Songs whos videoes I still remember after alot of years"

1. a-Ha. Take on me
2. Genesis. Land of Confusion
3. Michael Jackson. Thriller

Take on Me was an excellent pop toon and the interesting video no doubt helped its popularity.

Great band - can easily fill a top 10 with A-ha tracks.

I find it interesting that Take on Me was not a hit in UK until it was released for the third time. Changing the video was obviously a wise move. [:)]

The video was what really made that song. For its day it was cutting edge, and just the thing MTV was looking for

Robert, yes the "stupid bongo sound in the chorus" seems catchy at first then becomes quite annoying. Calling this cut (song) "brilliant" to me is a overstretch...it sounds quite ordinary to almost dull IMHO.

Ordinary - fair enough, but I think the chorus is really quite a sorrowful piece of music that takes the track into the brilliant bracket [&o]. (stupid out of place bongo sound aside [&:]).

I don't! I couldn't tell you another Nirvana song and I wouldn't know another grunge band if they got up, smacked me in the mouth and said "Hi - we are a grunge band".

However, as I hope my posts on this thread show, I like all kinds of music and like what I like regardless of the genre or the artist.

I cannot abide musical snobbery - those people that refuse to listen to some music (or admit liking a song) simply because the singer/group is "uncool".

You get that a lot in magazines and papers where "celebrities" are asked for their top 10 favourite tracks and you can bet 99 times out of 100 the "celebrity" won't name a single popular song in their list. Why? because they feel they they have to be "edgy" or "down with the youth" or "musically sophisticated" [8|].

Total BS and makes me sick [:@]

Er... Meds time... rant over[:D]

Most "Rap" is one genre I cannot find a musical element that like. So much of it is angry, degrading and down right scary (not to mention a negative influence on our very young). The lyrics can be complicated and creative and points out some social injustices but it belongs in the written poetry, commentary form.
