I suspect the Soviet garrison is in the range 9-11K AV. The troops keep coming, and despite taking them away thru PP purchases, the garrison builds up on you.

It depends on how and what Andav is spending his PP points on.

Seems to me you have more pressing concerns than invading Korea. I think you can get more bang for your buck elsewhere, so to speak.

I'm continuing to consider the islands near Korea as part of blockading the Home Islands. But lots of other fish to fry first.

1,782 AV at Nago, 833 AV at Amami Oshima. Enough of the units at Nago need to rest that only the artillery will work tomorrow. Perhaps the day after that the attack will continue. The troops at Amami Oshima need R&R. It would be best to recover a couple of hundred AV before continuing. At Nago, after a day or at most two days of rest, maybe a shock attack? There is one division with 59% disruption and one with 32%, so it is even possible we will shock attack with a partial force.

Over the next two days the British carriers will be pulling into Cam Ranh Bay, and the remaining battleships just behind. The carriers will have to reform into two TF. Together with the USN fleet carriers, they will escort the Takao (Formosa) invasion. The British LSI(L), just behind the battleships, will also take part.

I would not shock attack yet at Nago. Level 4 forts and terrain bonus are just too much for a SA. And I think that a SA does not give the engineers time to work on the forts so they will not likely drop at all.
When he is getting more destroyed squads than you on the DA, that is when I consider a SA warranted next time.

Yeah, the extra round of fire at the Allied troops might make things look very different. I had been thinking that with 4 to 1 in that last attack a shock attack might take the base sooner, whereas another 4 to 1 would not (even if forts were reduced to 3).

Which brings up what I think is the difference between Nago and Amami Oshima: naval bombardments. Air attacks to a lesser extent. All the supply is burned already at Nago, with supply (-) in two consecutive attacks. And I am sure the disruption is greater with the weight of battleship shells being thrown in. I suppose the defenders might resupply by making ammo from the fragments!

Kume Jima will probably be in less than two weeks. Only one Rgt plus two combat engineers units (1x Rgt, 1x Bn) against >7,000 defenders and a shock attack required. I think all the battleships will hit the place two days before and the day of.

Okinoerabushima is a little farther behind, with the division still on New Guinea but shortly to be lifted (the flame tank Bn is on Guam).

I wonder if Andav is on his last legs plane wise. He has a few broken down sentai visible.

You may consider striking the Ha45 engine factories or the Frank factories on the homeland. Go night with good recon.

I just compared these attacks with the previous ones. Obviously big progress at Nago, but also very good progress at Amami Oshima. Will be better with the additional division and some battleships contributing.

That's a good idea - maybe I'll shock with the tanks. And if I go with one division resting even more reason not to shock with the other infantry.

I am really clueless about the state of the Empire's economy. As we've talked about I certainly have paid attention to derailing it, but I don't really know about the state of it. Recon is a little more spotty over parts of the HI because the number of fighters in some spots is making life difficult for recon planes. There are lots of repairs going on and too many replacements required! Nagasaki/Sasebo is awaiting some fresh recon, but last time I saw it had well over 300 fighters up. Osaka (fresh recon) is over 300, and most other places I currently see are over 100. You might be right - I hope my efforts have been at least partly successful - but either way he's horded plenty of fighters over industry in the Home Islands.

The first of the B-29 type recon planes have just come on line after upgrading a B-24 type group. I am sending them to three cities in the middle of the HI (Gifu, and a couple of others with lots of aircraft factories just to the south) partly to see what is there, and partly as 'Recon Pressure©' to push fighters to guard those cities.

That was without the 40th participating. All infantry has disruption in the teens - much better than after prior attacks - and will rest tomorrow. Some of the armor will also rest, but some armor and all artillery will attack. More mine fields have been discovered, perhaps newly laid by submarine, and mine sweeper will move in.

At Amami Oshima the USA 24th ID is still heavily disrupted although other units have recovered. AV stands at 942 and I would prefer it to recover ~90-100 more before the next attack. With the capture of Nago all B-29 groups have been re-targeted to Amami Oshima. The two CVE TF on station are low on sorties and will replenish at Guam. BB Missouri has joined her sisters. She is the last USN fast battleship to arrive.

The divisions for the Takao (Formosa) invasion are beginning to load. The armored unit, HQ, and amphibious support will load tomorrow when the British LSI(L) convoy arrives at Cam Ranh Bay.
