No worries, 'tis done. One pilot belatedly fished out of the drink.
Searches: Axis 9, Allies 5. No combat.
Do the US wish to initiate in South China Sea?

Searches: Allied 2, Axis 3. Both sides find each other. Japs go for naval air.
I forgot to manually input the 9 for the first abort, which is why it still shows as 8. Makes no difference. I presume as I've already rolled the second A as a 2 you would want that on the other sub?

Yes. Abort to Singapore if that is possible.
Edit: The US submarine dive for safety for the second round.

Round 2
Searches: Allied 6, Axis 2.
The remaining sub limps back to port.

Wouldn't the Japanese get zero surprise in the South China Sea, allowing US to spend 4 to pick SUB combat?

Ah, that's what comes of making assumptions.
Will need to redo things again.

It's not the DoW surprise impulse.

Why? Wasn't that last impulse?
EDIT: Your turn to beat me to the punch [:)]

Okay, at the last minute, the US sub skipper gets a premonition of approaching trouble and heads for the deep. Aborted sub does go back to Singapore.
I have to call it quits for the night but I'll send the file over to Mayhemizer for German moves.

The turn goes faster when one side initiates many naval searches, and neither side can find each other.

No strategic bombing. Japanese artillery tries a ground strike in Manchuria.
Soviet positions are bracketed in what appeared to be a successful strike but as the dust settled and troops emerged from fox holes, the damage was remarkably light. So close ...
