Several enemy fast TFs moved from Appari, one is west of Manila with the 2 others some distance SSW of Hong Kong.
Andy has increased port size to 2. Time to send in more subs and attempt to 'assasinate' more of his cripples.

Even though our Navy was mauled badly, we did manage to hurt a lot of Allied ships. Battleships and cruisers they
are low on! Didn't the Iowa, New Jersey though. Guess they're still refitting at Pearl.

Yeah, but I was in a 4-engine turboprop P-3 Orion patrol aircraft (see my avatar) with no F-14s or F-15s around! No defensive weapons of any kind on board except for our box lunches...

Some time ago Andy sent me the following mail:

Several times I reconsidered a re invasion of India but always talked myself out of it on the grounds that you would fall back to the NW and end up holding just my entry points both of which are urban terrain and therefore to all intents and purposes impregnable unless I bring most of the allied army which I am not willing to do.

This would be a crazy historical position but is probably in keeping with the game.

Would that have been the way you would play it ? Its more curiousity than anything else now as the time has passed.

This I understood like Andy had cancelled all his plans about invading India and told him about what my defensive plans were and a bit about my
dispositions. After I posted on the forum informing that he would not invade India in this game, I got another mail informing me that an invasion of India was
still being considered.....

In reply I said that this was of course up to him, and that I probably misunderstood his intentions in the first mail.
Andy was game enough to give me detailed descriptions of his plans - thus far.
With several CV TFs now racing towards Singers I got the feeling that an Allied fleet will sail towards the Indian Ocean pretty soon.
To counter this I will change troop dispositions in India, transfer air units and attempt to shift some troops from Burma.

I think our best chance lies in hurting an Allied fleet with LBA before they can secure a large airfield.
The base immediately north of Colombo is probably a hot candidate. Knowing our Scottish friend he will probably bypass Ceylon, so I'm considering to
move parts of these garrisons 'ashore'

Currently we have the following LCUs available:

4 crack inf regiments.
3 large crack Bdes
1 tank regiment
1 engineer regiment
7-8 NLF and SNLF type units
A variety of AA, arty, base force units, aviation regiments etc.

The challenge is how to protect Karachi/Bombay and at the same time delay the enemy's invasion.
Think we all know that it's impossible to prevent an Allied Amph fleet from getting ashore.

Will keep 2 Regs + Base Force + AA units in Karachi and Bombay and protect the main cities with garrisons.
The key to defeating an Allied landing lies in the use of a strong air force. Think it could be a good investment and I've kept a lot
of AS in India. If we also could move 200 Reppus, 200 other fighters and 400 bombers things would become difficult Andy.

I think this is doable without weakening the defenses of the Inner Perimeter bases.

Ok, supplies and troops are reinforcing Formosa and Okinawas while I'm shifting
reserves towards Kyushu. Air units are being replenished and Reppus are getting back
into action after being depleted by the 100 Tie Interceptors that hit Takao last week.

In India I'm struggling to find many reinforcements, but a Zeke unit just upgraded to
Reppus in Calcutta while several kami and LBA units have transferred in and will commence
training. It's a peaceful place with plenty supplies and no interference from the enemy.
If Andy decides to come after India after all, he will meet a swarm of angry bees. If not,
it will be our training and R&R area for the Air Training Units.

My plan is Shinden in June Speedy! June!! Will know if we manage this feat over the next
couple of days. Soon 500 Shinden will be coming of the production lines. Plan is to place 200
over Harbin - a factory already researching 120 Shindens pr month. With 9 forts, mountain terrain
and 2000 AP I'm planning to stop the Red Steamroller here. No way the Reds can match the Shinden.

shoot down 50 Hellcats and Corsairs almost in the same place.

Cpt Andy left a convoy unescorted and we used the opportunity to whack it!
The Glorious Kirishimna rushed in and delivered another blow to the enemy [8D]
We lost 1 destroyer and 2 others are damaged. 4-5 enemy escorts are pummeled and
only 1 shell is landed on the transports.

I'm making use of every chance to reduce enemy strength. Damaged ships are just as
good as sunk ones. An invasion of the Home Island will require a lot of transports
and escorts.

Pretty good intercept, starting to get the hang of it [:)]

I love the AAR and its great to see one so late in the war..and Im definately a JFB.. but ..its almost meaningless now, isnt it? Its surreal.. Japan able to produce 1,000 A7Ms a month while he gets something like 150 a month of his best fighter... something like 12,000 A6Ms were produced in the entire war and you could do that in a year now.. still I dont fault that so much..the situation is better for you.&nbsp; But for him, it seems quite..unfair.&nbsp; Anytime&nbsp; Japan is just outproducing the US means something is wrong..

As PzB said... i can only add that i consider Corsairs just as solid planes... T-Bolts are unbeatable (ok, i choosed PDU and i have no complains)...

Unfair? Yes, it is certainly unfair but Vetamur, think about like model which force Allies to behaviour somewhat historical. Instead of 'crazy' airborne invazions and transporting the whole divisions at undefended bases at SRA (ships, who needs ships?) and cruising with Death Star and its 'solid' CAP just to clean up skies from Japanese ac; or just waiting for Hellcats and Corsairs and then steam rolling where and when you want to do...the flexibility of the Japan war industry force Allied player to ruin Jap industry... if you don't achive that, than you should get reward for that[;)]

exactly what Allies done in the RL with strategic air offensive and sub offensive. Furthermore, game moves too fast and such unrealistic production numbers for Japanese can force Allies to do preparations propertly (it is another question why Andy doesn't have time!): Capture base A.... fortify base A, send Corsairs and T-bolts on nearest enemy base (B) with heavy bombers support... prepare ground for successful invasion of B base...
and then repeat, repeat and repeat...

It should also be mentioned that it is ONLY Hellcats Andy is truly short of.
I can't shoot down enough Corsairs to empty his pools... [:'(]

As of lately Andy has been using A LOT of Corsairs and holding his Hellcats back in a pure CAP role.

Regarding other land bases fighters like P-38s, P-47s, P-52s he got more than enough and doesn't need anymore.
All these fighters are capable of shooting down Jap fighters in almost 5-1 odds and sometimes more.

Personally I don't think 400 researched Reppus should auto convert into 400 production Reppus.
Instead existing A6Mx factories should start a gradual upgrade.

But again, this is not how the game works! There are 100 things I would love to change, but realize that
further changes must be done through mods and house rules. So I'm _trying_ to stop whining whenever I loose
100 Reppus in one A2A engagement and instead focus on driving my opponent nuts [;)]

As Pauk-San also rightly pointed out, Andy is in a hurry - and this has a high price!
He's willing to pay it in this game even though the public would have launched him out of the bomb bay of a B-29 long
ago in RL! [:D]

I missed ca 50 points to get a auto victory back in 43...and it would be more than a little optimistic to try to follow the
historic timeline of the Pacific War after that. Andy can achieve almost any short term objective he want to, but certain
targets - like the Home Islands and surrounding islands are so well defended and Japan so stacked with resources and
hardware that there simply isn't enoug time to plan and execute long term objectives.

I'll give that to Andy - playing the historical, logical steamroller way would soon appear very frustrating from the Japanese point of view if you play stock. I think that Gen.Hoepner's former AAR showed that very well: while it was very exciting to a certain point, it really started to get a little boring when his opponent systematically pounded his next objective into submission, then went for it, then pounded the other one, then went for it, etc...

And I know from the comment I wasn't the only to start losing interest (and I suppose Hoepner was feeling even worse about that...)

Andy play his own way and that's good. Most of us will call it a suicide run (even when he just doesn't need to, like in Pauk's game) but well it's his choice, and that what makes the Scott interesting to play: he loves to gamble and to go for his objectives at all cost. Against an unexperienced or average opponent he would be in Tokyo by 1944 - against PzB or Pauk, he calls for Armageddon everywhere, and he is one of the main reasons why those two AAR are among the most popular ones I believe [&o] [;)]

I should have been more clear..Im not blaming you Pzb..obviously you play the game you are given.&nbsp; And I understand there other issues..but this one seems to go to the core of the nature of the war, not the details of how its being fought.
