I'm still watching the combat replay and just now I've gotten the results of one of my low-level attacks on Cebu and it doesn't look too
bad for the Japs but the bad news is that there's no hits listed. No Allied losses. A wasted mission? Were the Allies at least
disrupted a little bit?

Brian has done it again. Because of my lack of foresight I sent a transport TF to Ocean island without any air cover and without
adequate SCTF assets and Brian took advantage of an ideal situation. He literally couldn't lose. I really believe he's turning this
game around and is now probably on his way to a win. It's really an exciting game and I'm having a blast.

Brian executed a night naval bombardment of Balikpapan and destroyed a lot of Jap stuff. All for lack of a carrier three days ago. I
couldn't get a carrier into the area and now it's too late.

In a related matter, Brian says he's made some adjustments to the Allied side of the mod and he wants us to do a restart when this
game "ends". I'm not sure how that's defined but that's what's going to happen to this game anyway judging from what's been
happening lately. I've responded to Brian's email by saying that I'm ready to restart anytime he wants to.

I just now got an email from Brian saying that he too wants to restart immediately so he said
that instead of doing his moves he would finish the changes on the scenario and send me
the files. He spoke like it would be sometime today. I told him that I thought it would probably
take me a day, maybe two, to set everything in motion for turn 1 so it looks like we're going
to restart you guys.

I believe the changes he is making are to weaken the Allied starting position some.

Really? Make it even easier for the Japs yet? I can live with that. Thanks for the
good news. And I had sent an email asking for a copy of his change log for the
#75 scenario. I haven't received an answer yet, but I believe you. You've been
a source of good news for quite a while now.

I put this picture together for me but then thought I'd share it with you guys. It's the differences between
the Jake and it's successor the Glen. I'm going by the model numbers. I wish they hadn't changed the
engine for the Glen. I'm trying to chose between the two for which one to make. I'm leaning toward the
Glen's because some of my sub's need them too. I'm wondering what problem would occur if I tried to
put a Jake aboard a sub. Not much I'm guessing. It that can happen I'd rather have the Jake for every-
body who's a float patrol plane. One airframe to make, one engine to make, what could go wrong.

There has been a lot of debate over Jakes on subs. In RL, the Jake would not fit on the subs so many (including myself) do not use them on subs. Many do not have any issue with it since the game allows the upgrade. While I am playing basically a no house rules game, this is one of those self imposed house rules I apply to myself. It just feels right. It is really up to you in the end. I think I built about 50 Glens and then shut off production. I think I still have 10 left in the pool in April 45.

That being said, the range box you highlight is really the trump card for Jake. Even with 30 and 24 maneuver, the max speed of 153 of the Glen will get it shot down. Jakes get shot down just as easily of course. With a range of only 3/4, you have to be inside strike range of the allies to see anything. Oh and radar for the Jake. That kinda helps as well.

That's a good enough reason for me as well. I like the more realistic game. Thanks for posting the iinfo
because I didn't know and I've already switched the factories for the Glen to the Jake, just last night. Maybe
just this once, for this one incident I let it go. Or should I pay the costs to switch it back? Decisions, decisions.

Okie dokie.........I took all day yesterday and it's 12:29 now here in Tucson and I've sent my turn 1 moves
to Brian and I expect it's going to take a while for him to do his T1 moves so it's probably going to be
sometime tomorrow before we'll have any news to post.

Here's the changes relevant to this latest version. Brian tells me that he doesn't want to change it anymore. There's one known bug
in it yet. There's two squadrons that have the same name. It's not been a problem for me so far. Brian said to ignore it for now. I
don't want to go through all that turn 1 stuff again so I'm keeping on keeping on. Brian sent me an email saying that he wants the
Realistic R&D turned "on". I said I would, and then I completely forgot about it so I still need to do it. But it's going to be T2 before
I'll get a chance. I hope that doesn't ruin something he has planned.

I've already gotten started with some ship conversions. I thought I needed a couple more AS's, AD's, AG's, AKE's, and PB's so I fired
up Tracker and found which ships would do that and converted a bunch of 'em. I may have converted a bit more PB's than I needed to
but I'd rather have too many than not enough and escorts are handy to have for TF's going hither and thither.

Edit: Oh, and I wanted to mention the ships in the yellow box below are those ships being converted to especially good for carrying
troops. AK-t's I think they call them.

I received some moves from Brian a minute ago and I'm watching the Combat Replay and here's the results of the Pearl Harbor
strike: I lost a bunch of Zero's to flak. D'oh. Only one Allied ship sank. Bunch of damaged ships though. The airport suffered
pretty good.

I'm looking around to see what has changed and I'm finding a lot of my island light industry failing for lack of RES. They aren't up to
their operating levels yet even though most of them have a res center at the island. So I thought I'd put together some TF's to take
a small load of RES out to each of them to tide them over until their res levels grow enough to keep it going.

Of the six midget subs loosed yesterday morning one hit the harbor net and exploded making a really large hole that the other 5 midget
subs sneaked through and now they have arrived and they are out of gas. D'oh. Maybe some ship will run into one or more of them.
I suppose I could task it to return to Kwaj but it would take the rest of the war for it to arrive there. I'm guessing they are still running
their midget sub mission and there's nothing for me to do with them but cross my fingers.

Realistic R&D turned "on". I said I would, and then I completely forgot about it so I still need to do it.

Is this an At Start setting? I am not sure once the scenario has started then you can change this. It has been a very long time since I started a game so I could be completely wrong.
I lost a bunch of Zero's to flak. D'oh.

Were they set to strafe the airfield? I reset them to just escort.

Not a great Pearl Strike. Are you hanging around for a second day or bugging out?

Yes you're right. Once the game has started it can't be changed. So we're going to have unrealistic R&D for the entire game. I
wasn't planning on doing anything fancy with my R&D so I guess we'll keep going with the game. I hate to restart because then I
have to do all those turn 1 gyrations to get everything in motion.

Yes they were and at 100' so they were flying into the teeth of the flak and paid for it dearly.

I sank only one ship and the mission would be a failure if I can't get rid of the American navy. I'm going to hang around for
another day and see if I can't sink something this time. I expect huge losses but it's important to sink those BB's. My entire
war depends on it. If the BB's survive then I'll have to fight them on the high seas and that can get expensive. I have them
in my sights and I did a fairly good job on his air power so I'm hoping his CAP will be attenuated, stunted.

This is Friday Oct. 7, and I sent my moves to Brian last night late and so he's had my moves all day and
I haven't heard from him so I'm assuming he's still working on his T2 moves. I'm not aware of everything
he has to do but it's taking a long time so I'm guessing it's a really labor-intensive process he's got going
on. I'm thinking he's got more ships than the Japs and they all need something to do and somewhere to
go and the planes need attention and then there's the LCU's that are particularly difficult to find and move
and then there's all those required garrisons in China to keep full-manned and so on. It's a lot so I'm not
surprised he hasn't answered yet. I guess we'll just have to be patient.

He has lots to do. I think it took me 3 days to do turn 2 as Allies in a scenario 71 game.

Yeah, turn two in either version of Focus Pacific is crazy time consuming.
