Happy news reached the ears of the Imperial General Staff today, as our sources told us of the sinking of the battleship HMS Benbow at Singapore. She finally gave up after the pounding she received during the Battle of Brunei.

BB Benbow had been merrily bailing out water at Kuching and a TF was there to protect her which resulted in the Battle of Kuching some days ago. Admiral Terminus correctly summised my limping ships would be there I suppose. Although he was driven off, bad intelligence suggested a further surface combat TF was headed there so it was decided to try and limp home. All this time she had 98 system damage. Left Kuching with 58 float damage which had risen to 99 by the time it got to dock at Singapore. A brave attempt to stay afloat.

Well hunted down Terminus[:)]

A quiet turn, though not without its forebodings. Plenty of Allied submarine activity detected, with at least 5 boats at or around Wake, and at least 3 at Manilla. I wonder if he thinks he's going to pick off more limping battleships?

A large number of enemy submarines have appeared at our fleet bases in Formosa and Luzon. Obviously, Bill is trying to repeat his previous success, when an American submarine sank the battleship Settsu. Instead, enemy submarines at Takao and Manilla were hit by depth charges today.

In other news, I want to show you the main scorecard for battleships sunk. As you can see, the score is 6-5 in Bill's favour, but the ones he's lost were more expensive. The worrisome thing is that I've yet to take a significant bite out of the US battleline.

I really thought I'd directed all my heavy ships around his submarine concentrations. Guess I was wrong:

Yesterday Rear Admiral Spooner, currently commanding Royal Navy Submarine L-6, bravely dodged his submarine around Japanese depth charges and torpedoed the Japanese Battleship Fuso. Hopefully this menace of the seas will be out of action for some time. RADM Spooner's crew took an inevitable hit but with God's assistance we pray he will make port at Singapore. A telegram of congratulation was received from the United States Navy Officer in charge of submarines.

I'm just wondering. I have changed the way I am handling subs -
I put the best commanders in charge, head them off to a destination and then
change them to computer control. Since I've done this my results have
improved. What does everyone else think? (assuming someone else is following this thread!)

More submarine action this turn at Manilla and Takao. At the latter location, an enemy submarine came close to torpedoing one of our heavy cruisers, but the torpedoes fortunately failed to find their target.
