Kwantung Defense Map

Here is our troop dispositions before the Red Storm breaks loose.
Any ideas for how to improve it?

As before - the Red steam roller will be so strong that we need to concentrate our forces.
Andy will 110% certainly infest Harbin - so let's meet him here.

A sizeable reserve including 2 panzer divisions will be available for counter attacks into enemy
flanks. No more troops to add to the OOB - but more LBA will move to Kwantung in the weeks to come.
Havy strikes on enemy armour will be key to halting the Reds!

If he does have those legendary rifle and tank corps, you'd better make the decisive battle happen between changchung and mukden, try to make him overconfidence and ignore synchon his 3 main army group and so defeat his force in detail. If he does be careful and combine his entire force, there is perhaps no good solution.

My advise? Attack first. Remember, when soviets are inactive, they can only perform training missions. No CAP. So if you manage to pull a succesfull sweep over Vladivostok or take out some of his Il-2s on the ground- every Soviet airplane counts. If I were you, i would be worried about possible Soviet injection into North Korea from Vladivostok. Even though fortresses seem to be pre-planned well, Manchuria has lots of empty spaces. If Soviets encircle your fortresses and try to attrition your soldiers out, the only hope is air supply transport. Btw., i think that if you knew what the disposition of the enemy forces is, you could even launch a effective punch into the Soviet Union. A assault behind Vladivostok and elimination one-by-one base after base, with separated rifle corps., could work out with such forces and air support.

Listen, don't attack first (might be considered gamey since Japan would have done anything to keep the Soviets out of the war), ignore everything you heard ecxept the warning about Korea. A simple pincer along the rail line can cut the Kwantung army into two pieces (Sentenced to Death Group North and Sentenced to Death Group South). Just choose the places where you make the stands and make sure you got the rear covered (once again I stress the Korea issue - don't let your forces be cut in two). A fighting withdrawal into Korea is something to consider. Andy might get cocky and try a push into China which would be nice because you could use your China Ex. Army divs. Mind that Soviet air force doctrine is tactical, and so are the ranges of thier aircraft. Interdict with impunitiy when chances present themselves (gound troops will regularly venture outside the tiny air umbrella). A disrupted corps means a lot of troops are ineffective. The Vladivostok naval bombardment seems like a solid idea. The only thing is you need BBs for the initial 1 or 2 bombardments due to high-caliber coastal defence battery that need supression. And Rengo Kantai is short on everything these days...
Salute PzB, for this great game and best wishes now that your in Mk1 territory[;)]

P.S:
Still expecting you in Croatia...

Harbin and Changchung are definetely 2 death traps, you fight there, you are dead. Your entire army not enough to withstand his might.

Thx for the input guys, appreciate it [:)]
The plan is that troops from Harbin and Changchung will reinforce the flanks unless Andy
delivers a head on punch! It will take long enough time to break through both north and south of
Harbin. It would also be possible to cut the enemy spear heads of if they advance too quickly.

Andy will have to destroy our main forts without air support as Shindens will keep them out.
In return hundreds of Japanese LBA will strike back.

Rather quiet. I am resting and upgrading more Shinden units.
The Fleet is repairing and I hope to have some striking power within a few months.

Hope to get to Croatia next summer Honda [8D]

1st Panzer has unloaded 130 tanks and in a few days our armored reserve Corps will be ready.

Another Shinden unit has also upgraded in Kwantung - doing 1 pr day now. Plan is 48 for Harbin and
16 for all other major fortresses - backed up by another 16 fighters. A few major bases will hold 3-400 LBA.

Hoping to have 1 carrier, 3 battleships, 5 cruisers and 19 destroyers ready in a month.
Tomorrow the first radar equipped HA class sub will arrive (thought it was due today?). Afraid there's a bug
that will prevent them from arriving....would have been a waste.

No offensive operations planned against the Reds, but counter-attacks and flanking moves will be conducted.
The Navy will also go into bombardment mode and attempt to disrupt enemy advances along the coast.

I'm not contesting Allied air supremacy on Luzon. Could have done it, but it would have cost all our reserves
and forced us to tap the Home Island reserves. Need them all for the upcoming battles.

Pauk, I've received 6-8 Militia Divisions: Have a look!

Image

Pzb, were these militia units ones that had been destroyed or where they new? Where did they arrive?

I am in Nov 44 and the Allies have landed in Takamatsu. I am trying to plan my defense of the Home Islands but my civilian leaders are not telling me when, where, or if militia will be available to help

I don't think he will advance any further prior to january. The 20K AV worth of troops I have in the HI should be able to hold until then.

I recall someone saying that 20 militia divisions arrive at 1/3 strength. If this is true the HI is secure.

Militia divs appear in early 45 - ca february - if I'm not mistaken.
They were new units, not destroyed ones. Appears understrength with few guns
and 25/25 morale-exp...so don't expect too much from them before they're receive some training [;)]

Major events today!
Watched the A2A battle in a brek at work today.
Shindens are amazing - still no more than 30 in action, but they even the score aginst Corsairs.

Continued to upgrade to Shindens in Kwantung - pri 1. Have to get my defenses ready.
