And so the 'genius' Pep shows his true colours once more.

I mean don't get me wrong, he clearly is a successful manager (albeit one with oodles of money) - but some kind of genius? Don't make me laugh.

He last won the CL 10 years ago with Messi and co and since then has failed spectacularly.

Last night was the perfect example of why I pour so much opprobrium on him. The biggest game ever for Man City - and a big game for him as he was hoping to join the ranks of the three time winners - and what does he do?

He plays a team that he has never ever picked, he ignores BOTH of Fernandinho and Rodri and he brings back Sterling. I mean what the hell?

Well they lost and they thoroughly deserved to because their manager thinks he's too clever by half.

As I posted before, watch and cheer for other teams. Ones that have players without the big egos and paychecks, who play for their love of the game. Unfortunately, you can't watch this one play live any more.

Drone skirmish as Chile football team fears Argentine spies

As football rivalries go, the one between Chile and Argentina is up there among the fiercest.

So it should come as no surprise that when Chile's national team saw a drone hovering above a training session, it suspected its rival of spying ahead of Thursday's World Cup qualifier.

The team sent up its own drone which swiftly brought down the "spy-cam".

But rather than being a devious Argentine device, the drone turned out to be from a Chilean energy company.

The incident happened just days before the two sides are due to meet in a World Cup qualifier on Thursday.

The Chilean team was training at the Juan Pinto Durán stadium in the capital, Santiago, when players spotted the drone.

Local media report that it was Chile's manager, Martín Lasarte, who decided to send up a drone owned by the Chilean team to check out the suspicious object.

The two drones clashed in what Chile's National Professional Football Association has since labelled "an accident", but which reporters who witnessed it think was a deliberate act.

But rather than having foiled a spying attempt, it transpired that the Chilean team had taken down a device owned by energy company Enel, which said it was checking on street lighting.

Reporter Cristian Alvarado from Radio Agricultura posted footage of the two drones in the air and how they were subsequently retrieved.

Football managers have complained about drones attempting to spy on their teams before. In 2014, France manager Didier Deschamps asked Fifa to carry out an investigation after a drone hovered over the French training camp in Brazil ahead of its opening World Cup game against Honduras.

In 2017, Honduras accused Australia of using a drone to spy on its team during preparations for a World Cup qualifier. The team tweeted footage of the incident.

And there have been instances of spying at top clubs, too. German team Werder Bremen in 2018 admitted flying a drone over Hoffenheim's training ground and apologised for "any nervousness this may have caused" among Hoffenheim players.

While allegations of spying with drones have become more common, some managers still resort to more old-fashioned methods.

In 2019, Leeds United made a formal apology after its head coach, Marcelo Bielsa, had admitted sending a member of staff to watch Derby County train.

England actually have some really promising young players available for this tournament. Sadly, historically our tactics seem to be the same regardless of who is available or who is picked.

I have absolutely no doubt England will remain true to form and for this tournament I see one of two outcomes:

Scenario 1

We lose or draw to Croatia, then under pressure, we lose or draw against Scotland (we won't lose both) and then finish off with a scraped victory or draw against Czech. Maximum points = 4. Result: exit at group stage.

Scenario 2

We beat Croatia, fall over ourselves with ridiculously mis-placed optimism and draw or lose with Scotland. We manage to do enough against Czech to qualify. Result: we make it to last 16 but fail to top the group and so lose home advantage and tamely lose to Spain, Poland or Sweden in the round of the last 16.

Im pretty optimistic on England’s chances this year. Do I think they’re favorites? No, but I could see them advancing to the later stages. I think a big difference is this year this crop of youth talent compared to past years is these kids have turned into winners with their club football. Some of these guys younger then 22 have already one champions league, PL, FA Cup, Europa competitions which I think will serve them well. They’ve had a chance for the last couple years to prove themselves at the club level.

I do agree though that tactics could be the undoing, not sure how Southgate will fair against the current crop of national managers.

Good luck today to everyone as the Euros kickoff! Hopefully we have an exciting tournament!

First game up is Italy v Turkey at the Olimpico Stadium in Rome.

Italy are probably favourites, particularly with home advantage, but Turkey are well fancied to have good tournament.

It's going to be fascinating.

Today's job: we moved ALL the tables so that the customers will be able to face the GIGASCREEN that each and every restaurant in Italy must have during a soccer event (some will have people sitting normally, but in others all people will sit on a side, so to be all able to face the screen; I privately called the latter "The Last Supper's ones", but in times of COVID it seems in bad taste).

Ah, the joys of revolutionizing the layout and to follow the match through the screams of the customers (over the years I learned to tell exactly what just happened by the kind of scream alone. A dejected "NOOOOOOOOOOOH!" means a goal for the other team, "EUYUYUYUEYAAAAAH... ... .... NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOH!" means a narrowly failed goal for the supported one, and so on). Isn't reopening great? [:D]

Turkey play very much like Spurs:
