Can you tell me how to ..... capture a full map shot so I can print it out?

If it has to do with the 'movies', I haven't messed with them so that's why I don't know how to do it. You are the graphics guru [&o]

So um......to print out a full-map w/o any units on it....you first have to turn all the units invisible using the invisible button...that's the one that toggles through all the range crop circles. And with the 'movies' option selected you just end your turn and the game engine outputs maps without any units on them. I did one for you:

it would be good if Karri could updat the files on his server, too -- an update every 5-10 turns helps with keeping up with the flow (and presumably doesn't give away key intel if it is posted a few turns post-events)

There are certain things I need to keep a secret. I'll post the turns after mud.

Karri has made major gains in the Leningrad area. Also he's attacked across the river further north than his main effort and established a beachead on the road to Leningrad.

That's all the strategic reserves the Soviets had left. Moscow is now nude.

Here's what the Leningrad front looked like at the beginning of the Soviet 79th turn:
Karri is slowly gaining his way toward Leningrad a hex at a time. The Soviet units are giving way because they are low on supply / proficiency and tired. They can't hold out much longer. Come on mud season.

Larry.. I cannot see the details but it looks like you have a lot of troops in the North.. did you consider pulling your troops back to easier to defend possitions along the Svir and towards Murmansk, freeing up troops for Lenn? I highly recoment the use of the fortified line near Lenningrad.. ggets you a HUGE defensive benifit, remember summer is comming and you cannot wait till then to realliegn you rtroops or its too late!

No I didn't consider that. That's an idea worth considering. I hesitate to just give up my positions there though because I have grandeous plans to invade Sweden at some point and I'm in a good position to do that from where they are already.

Um.....Karri is moving Panzers toward Leningrad and engineers to the river in the south so this game is almost over already reguardless what I do in Leningrad. That being said though, I do count on the fortified line around Leningrad to be able to, hopefully, hold off the Axis hordes for a little bit anyway. I have a lot of tank brigades in the Leningrad area digging entrenchments as we speak because I have a feeling they are going to come in handy in the months ahead.

I dream of being able to break the Finnish lines and surrounding them and finishing them off. Here's a crude movie of the moves from turns 76 to 80 and it shows the gains Karri has made in the Leningrad area. By some miracle I've held him back to just two or three hexes gained in turn 80.

well the defensive fort bonus is something like a 8 multiplier! Also the air conflict is one sided during winter, I hope you are pounding hte nazti airfields. If you think this is over don't, you get lots of reinforcments and can ride out the tide.. I am sure many here would take this over from u if you see no hope! Have u played the germans' side? It does help to see how hard life is in 43!

Right now we are at almost equal strenght. However Soviets recover twice as fast, and Larry has recently been doing a lot less attacks, meaning that he is rebuilding his troops. All I can do is keep up the attacks and hope the force levels stay the same. Unfortunately during the mud period he will gain 10k more rifle squads(in replacements, god nows what he will gain in reinforcements), tipping the balance in his favor again.
That is not critical in itself, but in the long run(come 43, 44 and 45) he will slowly but surely gain the upper hand. Not to mention that any and all breakthroughs will be devastating for me. I was actually doing pretty good before Larry finished the Germand-Finnish army in Lapland, that offensive ate a good deal of my replacements.

All I can do is hope that at least one of my major offensive for Summer 1942 succeed, and I can keep my lines for the winter 1942-43. After that, should I not win the game by then, it will be a slow fighting withdrawal to Berlin.

I do believe these Axis arty units were more powerful that they show to be now. I think it's because the Soviet air force is having an effect on the Axis arty.
