Allies still haven't gotten to 2 to 1.

here is a recent example where I just reduced a level 6 fort and captured the base in one turn (this past turn).

Well done...I think were there aren't many units the defenders really have a tough time. All the aerial and naval bombardments hit those troops leaving nothing with AV to defend.

However, you hit with so many planes...I am not sure 10 units would have fared any better.

Or fly in a few Nells to make a surprise strike and fly out again? Will you be able to keep the airfield closed and LRCAP the bases?

I set all fighters to ground bombard cap 20 at 6K. Enemy air presence is nil in the Marshalls, and I would see his fleet several turns in advance.

Yup! I was wondering if the Corsairs were also bombing? That was a whole lot of planes!

American carrier late war radar planes generally coordinate completely or nearly complete. (note this is stock - we did not change this) It is a HUGE advantage. This makes any CV encounter a one-way journey for the empire except where they can attack only a small piece of the fleet.

My modus operandi is to use those CV planes or air or port attack. They murder the supply much faster than LBA. When I think there is limited or no supply left, I switch to ground support for about three turns --- until I get some good losses. Then I invade. That is the late war solution to a level 6 fort. If you saw that Jaluit as a level 6 fort and I took it the turn I invaded.

Finally, in any stock game variant, the game is always over before the allies can really concentrate their CV power to maximum effect. Because we are modding super-charged empire, we are getting to see the effects of the full naval siege train.

You are right - no enemy single hex island base can long withstand such an onslaught.

Good points, but keep in mind at present, the allies have 100 or more total CV platforms and high durability airframes out the wazoo. minor attritional attacks really don't affect the allies at this point.

Aside - allied major combat ship damage control is soooooo effective in late war. Whereas the Lex might sink with 2 torps in 42. In 45, you typically need 5 torps in a CVE! Such is the power of late war allies

Palembang finally falls after a several week siege. The first asw attacks on Russian subs near Tsushuma / Fusan. Empire launches large air attack on Bikin from Japan, and Russian forces clear empire CD unit in 106.28. The way is clear to assault Hailar (107.30). Other reussian forces sieging Arshaan (105.33) but are low on supply and cannot attack. May have to take Hailar before I can take Arshaan.

Beginning CV air attacks on Kwajalaen now that the CV's have replenished and rearmed at sea - gotta love 45. expect to invade in several to 5 turns. Invasion force moving in from Ponope. Siege air and naval bombardment warfare continuing against Tarawa. Evacuating combat forces from the Gilberts to Rabaul. Moving combat forces from rabaul to Sorong for philppines and Mariana's battles to come.

Russian wolk packs near Fusan attacked 3 times by PB's guarding large AKL TF's. No serious damage, but no sub attacks. The Russian air force cannot project to those straights, so I have to flood it with subs.

Note I am trying to push AK's from Vladivostok to SAKHALIN where I can use them. It is a long gap I bases without CAP, so it is very risky I he has naval attack planes in place.
