1943 Feb 1 thru 3 Progress in SE Pac

India/Burma:
KV sunk off Cocanada.
RO-63 hit 1 SW of Diamond Harbour, surfaces, but not sunk.
The battle for the hex 1 NE of Akyab begins in earnest as 240 medium bombers hit the troops followed by ground bb (bombardment).

SE Pac:
Bombers (up to 96 B-17/24) visit Tahiti to suppress the AF.
Makemyo AF is kept close by 36 American Hudson from nearby Hao.
Two xAKs are sunk at or next to Rangiroa (nice to have better torpedoes [;)]) on 1st.
Landings at Rangoria (6 NE of Tahiti) on 3rd lead to shock attack 180A:1J and base falls. [:)] I had moved down from San Fran the three small CVEs (16 capacity each with fighters now), 2 CLs, 7 DDs and a SC TF with 3 CLs and 4 DDs.
71 B-17/24 hit AF at Aitutki.

NoPac:
6 PTs visit Cold Bay and they cannot hit the two MTBs.
Another group of 6 PTs visit Cold Bay, don't hit the transports, miss the 2 MTB, but sink a DD when facing 2 CL & 4 DDs and have 4 PTs sunk in return.

1943 Feb 4 thru 6 John gets another BANZAI moment and a single posting in his long neglected AAR from it. [:@]

SS Porpoise gets 2 TT hits on TK off Babeldoab, but no sinking sounds. [:(]
Pompon finds new minefield at Akutan (Aleutians)
Heavy damaged RO-63 sunk 3 west of Chittagong
KXIV gets 2 TT hits on xAK 3 west of Victoria Point
RO-33 is hit at Cox's Bazar, but she gets a TT hit into one of two CMs attempting to lay mines. My CM is able to safely disband in the size 1 port.

India/Burma:
The battle for the hex 1 NE of Akyab with daily ground bb (bombardment) continues. LRCAP of 16 Hurricanes, 35 P-38s, 9 P-40k vs 26 Tojo = 6 Tojos shot down for no losses. Medium bombers then come in. John continues to lament how much different the air war is here vs Canoerebel. Both are using the same DBB air data.
2nd Brit ID is attacked by 27 Sally (3 due east of Cox's Bazar)

Meanwhile over the skies of Dora Harbour, my P-38Gs still are masters as 12 Zeros are shot down for 2 P-38s. On 6th, another 18 Zeros are shot down for 3 P-38s.

SigInt: two small BFs are headed for Tongatapu in SoPac. I have NO plans to go beyond Cook Islands in SE Pac

One of the SBD groups is able to upgrade to Avengers and does so (short on SBD-3s, but not Avengers). I create two PT Boat TFs. No more freebies!! [:-]

NoPac:
My PTs miss transports at Cold Bay, but one sinks after discovering a new minefield.
My SC TF is attacked at Chirikof. 45 Vals and Kates are destroyed by CAP as they wonder over WITHOUT any escorts. [:D]

Screen Shot: I need another 10 days to get PPs for an American ID at Cape Town. Then, I can focus most of '43 on Indian IDs I have few able to cross into Burma. The Chinese Corp has 913 AV and is still short of most heavy weapons, but needs the experience here.

I-23 is sunk 4 west of Prince Rupert by ASW TF of 2 DE & 2 SC. One less Glen I-boat!! [:D]
S-30 cannot finish off the damage DD coming back to Cold Bay from Chirikof

India/Burma:
The battle for the hex 1 NE of Akyab with daily ground bb (bombardment) continues.
On 10th, I have my P-38s, P-40s, Hurricanes 2 due east of Cox's Bazar to face his Zeros, Tony, and Sally. I get 11 for no Allied losses. Meanwhile, he sends forward 75 Tojo & 13 Zero to LRCAP ambush my 220 medium bombers 1 NE of Akyab that come in with low escorts. The total bill for day was 64A to 35J. Medium bombers are stood down and replacements taken afterwards.
Cox's Bazar - 6 CL & 9 DDs visit on 11th and stay there during day. John sinks 4 ML & 4 MGB, then bb (small 'bb' means bombardment) the base at end of day. Port is still able to go to 2 (need it to unload my little Cargo TF of xAKLs faster)
Akyab - Looks like a TF of Minelayers here.

Why I'm not doing much against his repeated SC TF attacks? I have the 3 R Class BB and some DD at Diamond Harbour along with 110 DBs and 50 TBs still training to a fine point. Once I let these items off their leash, I expect a big response from John out of Port Blair. Second, I need to build up and get more Aviation Support at Cox's Bazar to be able to get fully loaded B-24s to reach PB. More 'psych ops' readers. [;)]

First react is he is short on DDs. Afterwards, I'm glad my Fletchers survived. These are the earliest group of them and now have night experience up to high 50s after coming in with low 40s in night many months ago.

BB Owari is unique to BTS Lite. Rather than build the hugely expensive Yamato Class BBs, The 'Lite' gets two BBs with 16" guns at start and Japan can built two more

Yes and I 'think' John is getting frustrated over lack of major action like he is seeing vs Canoerebel. He is doing at least twice as many turns there than with ours. We have No Pac, SE Pac, and Burma. Very little else that he can see.

Meanwhile, I have 12 TFs off map from California headed for Panama (slowest will arrive in 8 days), 4 TFs at Panama, and 19 TFs headed for Cape Town that have left Panama already.

1943 March 5

KB (152F, 202B, 41 Aux) moved west to 185,63 (21 SE of Dutch Harbor) - was the element of surprise gone so John decided NOT to attack Prince Rupert?

Tahiti - 32nd ID finally gets good dice roll and brings forts down from 4 to 3
Makemo - Fast Transport TF will unload and attack next turn

1 NE Akyab - the newly arrived 55th ID keeps the Allies occupied (I was unable to get the victorious Allied troops into Akyab before this division moved out of Akyab and delayed me.
1 hex due east of there, the Chinese Corp battles vs 18th ID
1 hex due east of there, the 2nd Brit ID cannot move the 65th Bde out

PPs are now being saved and used on India/Burma area.

Cape Town is bursting with troops, planes, and ships. 196 ships are going through upgrades. Need that assault shipping!!

Time for an badly needed update b4 the curtain goes up.

Aleutians:

9th - [>:] I'm moving construction units to bases to SW of Kodiak to max out bases before i try anything else.

SE Pac:
6th - Your Allied commander, me, had order the 4 xAKs and 2 French DDs to move to safety to the east. However, I forgot to order the unloading of supplies to stop. [:(] As a result, ALL 6 ships are hit Vals, Jills, and Judys from his CVEs at Tahiti. I able to get forts down to 1.
7th - 36 Betty bomb my troops at Tahiti and next ground attack is unable to get forts down. LRCAP fly over the 2 DDs and damaged xAKs as they make there way NE to Makatea. 32 WC (WildCats) & 15 P-39s face 41 Zeros, 23 Vals, 21 Judy = 13J:0A, but all ships are sunk. Near Aitutaki, my subs are attacked by 3 CLs and 3 DDs.
8th - 30 Betty visit Tahiti, followed by two ground strikes by his CVE bases air - 35Z, 6 Kates, 6 Jill, 26 Judy and 36Z, 24 Val, 15 Judy. I cease ground attacks to conserve supplies.
9th - 30 Betty hit Tahiti based troops

India/Burma:
6th - Three ground bb across the front from just north of Akyab and to east
7th - 1 NE of Akyab and Akyab see lots of A2A action. Losses are 29A to 74J with 8 KIA. Three ground bb.
8th - Fighters sweep empty skies over Akyab as 120 HB (heavy bombers) hit AF. Three ground bb.
9th - O24 gets a TT hit on AMC headed for Akyab. 250 medium bomber and 105 heavy bombers hit troops to NE of Akyab.
