The US battlefleet reappeared today, with a short, sharp bombardment of our base on Wake Island from a number of enemy battleships. Whether this is a precursor to a counterinvasion remains to be seen.
At Manilla, US submarine S-17 torpedoed our destroyer Kagero, causing grievous damage to her.

Another round of bombardment at Wake today, from a different group of US battleships. Yesterdays group was sighted retiring eastwards. Elsewhere, ASW work continues at Luzon and Formosa.

Heavy depth charge attack on one of my submarines at Singapore today. Bill's using a smothering ASW tactic, and it's working. Unfortunately, I don't have enough ASW ships to try something similar.
A third night of bombardment at Wake. Is this a raid?
BTW, my brand new super carrier Hosho will be arriving very shortly, so I'll hereby give my opponent the chance to surrender honourably.[:D]

Yeah, well... We knew that coastal defences were worthless against large warships.
Mines aren't, however. Two of my ships hit
our own mines at Hong Kong last night. Both are expected to make port. Later in the day, a small measure of payback was extracted when two enemy steamers were sunk at Hong Kong.
At Wake, there was no fourth night of bombardment.

We found another American submarine just off the coastline of the Home Islands today, and dropped some depth charges on it, as well as its compatriot at Manilla. Other than that, the enemy land forces arrived at Tsingtao. We expect an attack shortly.

Don't put too much into that. All I did was look up a few things in books and online. I think I've proved I'm nothing special at this game.

The expected attack on Tsingtao happened today, with expected results, considering that Bill brought 10 Chinese corps to my one Japanese infantry brigade.

The Chinese army at Tsingtao continued their attack today in an effort to destroy the IJA Tsingtao brigade. Losses were about even.
In the South China Sea, submarine No. 46 sank enroute home from Singapore.

Hey, where'd you get that map? That's classified information (or was)!
Anyhoo, aside from some more ASW work, and artillery duels at Tsingtao, nothing happened today. We have, however, activated Operation Crotch Punch, so that'll change shortly.
