I think I remeber a SenToku in action and the late Ha subs being bugged and having stopped dead in production one day from delivery.

Half the new HA class subs all but ready for delivery but they stopped at 1 days of production remaining.

The large sub carriers have been useful. The numerous float planes have made them excellent scouts with very
long range. They've also scored a few good hits, but are very vulnerable - so I can't really recommend sending them into
combat in 1945 [8|]

Today Andy sent his carriers to sweep our CAP before sending his B-29s in to hit our
Mitsubishi engines work. Lots of LR CAP Oscars moved in to support the defenders - didn't help
much against 144 Corsairs... That's my point exactly, current type of LR CAP can't be controlled
and should be abandoned altogether.

Again, with bad weather around, Andy was lucky. Had storms shut down his sweep his B-29s would have
burned. That has never happened thus far, and he's done it at least a dozen times [:(]

Our oil and resource situation remains good though, so I'm able to repair and convert a substantial
number of Mitsubishi engines. If a shortfall should occur there are many 2nd line ac that we can halt
producing for a while.

I was thinking about one thing: PUD means upgrading all ac types almost at will. I think a downgrade option
would have been perfect. All ac that have been upgraded should be possible to downgrade to the same ac types.
This would have allowed to use ac types in the pools if necessary - especially as kamikazes.

If he goes for Amami which I believe is a clear piece of terrain then he can have a fighter base from which to LRCAP his invasion fleets when he makes for Kyushu. This would help him overcome his previous huge problems with trying to defend his CVs whilst also LRCAPing the invasion fleet and sweeping your defensive CAP using ONLY CV-based fighters.
 
If I were him Amami is a no-brainer. It has huge operational and strategic advantages ( lets him use Army fighters and pilot pools to attrit your forces while keeping his precious navy pilot pools in reserve ) BUT we've always seen AndyMac do some strange things. It is entirely possible he'll try for Okinawa itself or Kyushu itself. Still, I'd garrison Amami VERY heavily as that's the most sensible place for him to go with a view to basing army fighters and gaining air superiority over Kyushu

Yes, it's my though also - but if I stack 50 units in Amami Andy will go to the next target on his list [:'(]

I've placed 380 aviation support on Naha to try to get as many as possible of my grunts airborne!
Think it worked - pleased with todays performance against enemy superior numbers. Too bad we're not allowed
to use Shindens speed to avoid escorts and savage bombers...but the enemy naval fighters is the most
valuable target anyway. So come si come sa...

We lost 126 fighters and claimed 155 in this first round - a good result against 123 Corsairs
and superior enemy numbers in September 45!-)

and 30k supplies have been 'harvested'. This will be helpful.

Disappointing participation

In China I could get 1000 bombers to hit an AF, but in the Pacific it's plain impossible
to get even 200 bombers to sortie from one base. I've handpicked leaders, rested all units
and provided supply - but nope.

Andy is allowed to launch potentially vulnerable operations because I'm not able to properly
wield the weapons that remains.

I'm taking the Imperial Guards Division back to the Home Islands.
Somehow it's never been were the toughest fighting has been.
Maybe because my opponents have always avoided the heavily fortified areas it has
been based in.

Used the 'old trick' to get a few air units with no ac and only pilots out of Naha.
Transferred in a single fragment ac of the same type and disbanded it into the skeleton
unit and flew it out.

Colombo fell today and more units in Bataan were wiped out, including the 3rd Armored.
That's good since the cadre will now rebuild faster at Nagasaki!

The Fuso and Kirishima are down to 11 sys damage, also hoping to have 2 heavy cruisers ready
within a month. The last battle line will then be reformed with Yamato at its head.
2 other damaged bb's are still far from operational with 60-70 sys damag remaining.

The results were horrible for the population, but little of military value was achieved.

Engined output in the Mitsubishi works are down by 85% from 70 to 9 - but massive B-29 attacks were directed against them,

We need some new counter-measures against these buzzards that keep invading us!
I'm not willing to burn our strategic air reserves for nothing, but some plans can be prepared.

In the final phase of the war I'm also planning a last massive kamikaze effort.

Since you can't actually achieve much with proper strikes would you never consider just gathering your LBA, setting their altitude to 3000 feet or so and setting them on NAVAL SEARCH 100%. That way you will get significant attritional benefits in terms of single Betty and Helen bombers nipping out of the clouds to drop bombs on US TFs, massively reduce your losses to enemy CAP and get the chance to save up your bombers until they can actually achieve something with the more traditional mass attacks.
