Of course if it's like the real-life 'meet wife' function then one TF will have to stand around for a few hours while the other one gets ready...

Thanks for the ongoing AAR and all the dev posts!
Question:
1. Is the 'Follow Task Force' order a commandment now, or still more of a loose suggestion like it was in vanilla WitP?
Anyone who has tried to use the 'Follow' command in vanilla WitP knows how much fun it is to have 1/2 of your TF's lag behind! So if this has been addressed (*THANK YOU!*), will the group of TF's simply travel at the slowest speed of following/leading TF's? Or would you have to have everyone set to follow the slowest TF?
Thanks in advance!
Chad

Yes Ron, you get your "meet TF" you've always wanted. [:)] I have to say the new "waypoint, follow, meet, patrol zone" combo feature is extremely useful. More so than I would've thought. Don really did an excellent job on this system. [&o][&o][&o]
Whooohoooo! Well, I can't say enough about the job you guys are doing. Thanks very much. This is going to be really enjoyable to play. Again, you guys are really going above and beyond.

I think Matrix has hit a milestone with this last message from Ron.[:D]

I think it's just excellent that quality and control are obviously huge this time around. Nothing to be "sore" about or frustrated by.

The spec called for an arrow - so It's an arrow I tell you!
[:D]
That's right! It is an arrow just like Joe said![:D][:'(]
ORIGINAL: Terminus
The arrow is not so much an arrow as a little tab, sticking out of one of the sides or corners of the stack.
If you want to try to get a directional indicator on a 9x9 pixel image and keep them within the hex boundaries, then I'll gladly send the whole set your way!![:D][;)]

Not yet anyway - you don't have your hands on the actual game yet!

And you think not having the game will keep Ron from griping? [:D]

All software has bugs.
Newly released software has lots of bugs.
Fixing bugs induces bugs.
T'were it any other way, there would be no such things as programmers. Once through for all possible applications then straight to the unemployment line.
Some old programmer truths:
No project has ever been completed on time, under budget, in full compliance with specs and without bugs. Yours will not be the first.
Within one working day of release, a feature request will be received that will make a programmer exclaim "Why would anyone want to do that?"
The person that originally asked for a feature to be included is the one most likely to ask for it's removal.
Possible bugs is number of features factorial. AE has thousands of features. You do the math, it's beyond me.
So, as mentioned somewhere else in one of these threads - as soon as AE is released the forums will fill up with angry posts. I can hardly wait. Oh, and in advance of those posts, let me assure you that my parents were indeed married. Just not to each other.

Don,
Thanks so much for that trip down memory lane. [:D] Starting in 1980, I was a computer programmer analyst. (I was later forced into retirement by a chronic illness.) LOL. I remember those "truths". They are as valid today as they were back when I was working. Having read much in the forums on the progress of AE, I know they have come into play once again. Thank you all in advance for your persistance and patience in bringing this baby "to term". [:)]

Don did, however, miss some of the basic programming axioms:
Constants Aren't
and
Variables Won't

Like many others here, I'm horrified at the thought of Ron playing AE and saying, "Wow, the Land Model isn't botched at all!" The banner implications are frightening! [;)]

I may have mellowed alot and the AE boys may be batting hall of fame numbers but I'm not dead. Lots of bitchin' and gripin' in the old thunderbox if things suck eggs.[:D]

Shouldn't he work on turning that third digit into a question mark, just in case?

I remember a project at NASA where the project documents were done in cartoon format, this was done just to explain the project to upper management, there was even a fulltime cartoonist on the project.[:D]

Several Japanese cruize ships turn up at Darwin and Rabaul, but as it is Christmas the docks are closed so they aren't allowed off the ship (I forget to un-set do not unload!). There goes Cathartes Christmas present, will be a day or two late now!
Actually Darwin coud be interesting, there are 9 units showing, I should have enough combat power....
During the turn I get another ship interception off the Philipines.
The AVG mange to take to the air in mass today and the trade with the Oscar 1C is about even. Previous battles has seen me with a strong tactical advantage, not this time. I loose 2 Oscar 1C over the 2 days.
One of may damaged subs is forced to the surface by an ASW hunter killer group and is sunk
As expected Kendari falls on the first attack.
Some weak attacks on my ships at Darwin are defended by Float fighters, forgot to LRCAP from the CV's!
Better get on with the turn and try not to make as many mistakes!
Cheers
Rob

So...let's say I once worked for a major...(I mean...really HUGE) international bank....and every day we would get a message in our internal e-mail, warning of a pending upgrade on the corporate computer programs.......The warnings and internal schooling programs continued for maybe 45 days........Then......THE BIG DAY!!!!!!!!!....With thousands of bank employees standing by world-wide.........and trillions(with multiple "T"'s) at stake...................somebody failed to turn on the server that morning.
I believe the guys job resume may have included "New Coke"..........[:D]
