Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Axis #7. Japan. Northern China.

Stalemate with the Mao and his communist. A stalemate that I don't believe can be broken until the weather clears in the North Temperate. And then, only by successfully attacking at moderately acceptable odds (i.e., +8A or higher). Or maybe at acceptable/unacceptable odds of +6A or higher.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Axis #7. End of Turn Roll.

This turn ends on a roll of 1 against a 10% chance that it would. A very short turn indeed, with the axis getting two impulse and the allies only getting one. Also, by moving both first and last this turn the axis advantage on the initiative track is reduced to even (i.e., +1 to 0). Also, by moving last, the allies win ties.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. USA Entry Options.

The USA added a chit to the Japanese entry pool and selected option 26, "Relocate fleet to Pearl Harbor". This gets tension levels in both pools at 17 or over. Which is the required tension level for option 34(17), "Pass War Appropriations Bill." No more options will be choose until entry levels in both pools reach 34, or higher, and the USA selects this option.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Destroyed & Repair Pools.

No much action this turn.

With respect to the damaged factory in Metz, the Germans ended the turn with an engineer in that hex so that factory will be repaired and ready for operation beginning next turn.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Germany Aligns Finland. Axis #7.

I forgot to mention that Germany aligned Finland on their last impulse. No reaction from the USA.

Turn 9. Jan/Feb 1941. Nazi-Soviet Pact.

The Germans are now in position to be able to break the pact at their convenience.

To align Finland early can be a mistake; since it lets the URSS measure where you'll go with the Finns.

To align them at the first impulses of war - after they deployed reserves - the Finns can easily measure if it worth to seize Murmansk for free (with 1 unit) or screen Leningrad and seize Murmansk to prevent Lend Lease.

Thanks. I guess I fouled that one up. [:(]

Turn 10. Mar/Apr 1941. Initiative.

The axis roll a 1 and the allies a 6. With no modification the final result for the first roll is 1-6. The axis elect NOT to re-roll. The allies decide to go first. Again this was a tricky decision, however, the allies wanted to minimize the opportunity for the Germans to invade the Soviet Union this turn if the Germans got a favorable weather roll to that end. Also, there is the near alignment of Persia to the Italians to think about too.

The bottom line is that the allies choose to go first.

Turn 10. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. Weather.

The unmodified weather roll is a 1, which results in a modified weather roll of 3.

What you have here is an example of weather control. If the Allies had chosen to go second, the weather would have been good the whole turn, and Russia would have been invaded. As it is, the weather started off bad, and might continue that way. In other words, whatever the Allies chose was wrong. Isn't it wonderful how WiF works? [:)]

The Soviets should redeploy their front - it's very weak by how you deployed it.

Also a small scale offensive at Pestamo could be evaluated (and 1 CP built and placed in Murmansk - or even a CW CP can do the trick if Pestamo falls.)
Finland will have hard time reinforce it - meanwhile Russians have a natural supply source and can pour more units there. It's 1 resource extra for Soviets and one less for Axis (if Soviets can spare the troops).

With the current upfront deployment - the Germans would just fire a supercombined (eventually); hole the front in various places and pin on the spot most of the Soviet ground forces.
They'd have just their reserves, disrupted already, in cities somewhere around.
Also the VVS is useless in the surprise impulse, upfront. It only risks to be bombarded - and pinned on the ground - and stomped all over (with loss of plane and pilot). At best place your airplanes on their own - and not stacked with land units if you want them ready for action the 1st Soviet impulse of war.

They were forwarded based originally for neutrality pact garrison purposes. But now that the Germans can break the pact at will I will redeploy them further back.

I've been trying but the majority of the land actions from the combined have been going to the communist Chinese. I know the Soviet front's a wreck and troops need to be moving back pronto. Well that's their orders this turn using whatever land actions the communist Chinese leave them.

Turn 10. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1.

The CW takes a naval and use some of their naval moves to beef up convoy escorts, especially in threaten sea areas such as the North Atlantic and Cape St. Vincent.

Turn 10. Mar/Apr 1941. Allied #1. CW. Naval. Sea Areas.

Other sea areas in which the RN moved into to protect the vital CW convoy lines included Cape Verde, Mouth of the Amazons, Caribbean and the East Coast, which are all in range of one or more axis sub units in port.
