You can target them directly to destroy them, but I'd worry about the Graces built at Nagasaki long before I'd hit the 3 (28) Myojo factory at Fukuoku.

I figure that some fighters have been relocated to the NE part of Honshu for kamikaze/naval strike escort duty. Likely CAP too, so he can chew up my fighters as they escort strikes on shipping. But we don't cooperate - we set attack range too short for that!

I don't know what he is expecting for an Allied plan to secure Hokkaido. Surely his assessment of our next move will affect what he is doing now. While our ground troops move on toward the next 2 targets on Hokkaido, we will land troops first at Hakodate and then at Muroran. I figure that especially with Hakodate the response will be big and many ships will be hit.

Flavor! It would be sweet if the plane cost only 2/3 of a normal single engine because of the wood...but alas.

River-crossing shock attacks are not working right when there are already friendly troops in the hex. At Chengtu there was the deliberate attack that was ordered, but it is obvious from the disruption status that the units which crossed the river (through a previously enemy controlled hex side) did not shock attack as required. I'll get the save game to Michael.

The units at Chengtu which crossed the river will now attack while the two corps that attacked rest and resupply.

Good progress on the ground in spite of that. Except at the main spearhead, where units are actually losing ground on supply and giving messages in the Operations Report! I am having to dramatically reduce the stacking in the hex. Yesterday I had already ordered the two divisions to the rear plus the strongest armored unit to take a side road and cross the river at Anking to flank the defense. Now all armored units plus three more divisions are being ordered back a hex just to relieve the supply burden. The infantry will move north along the secondary road then through the forest to Wuhu, while the armor follows the units already heading for the river crossing at Anking.

At Hankow, one Imperial unit has left the city toward the east, and more appear to be doing so. Perhaps the prospect of another almost 80 thousand fighting troops going missing means that Hankow has to be abandoned. That road leads to Anking, where elements of our main spearhead are now dashing. More air recon has been moved forward to locate units on that road for air strikes to slow them.

Much supply is at sea en route to China, some of it close by. >100k has just begun unloading at Hong Kong and other convoys are closing in. Several convoys are en route from Guam, intended to support operations against the Home Islands. Aside from Hong Kong, one will unload at Foochow which is closer to the main spearhead. Two will unload at Wenchow, which has been abandoned and will be occupied before they arrive. That supply can flow to the main spearhead through Chuhsien, which the Empire is currently abandoning.

All 4EB are being removed from the Asian mainland to help the supply situation, and relocated to Formosa. Many B-24 were being relocated to Daito Shoto and various Okinawan islands anyway to operate against the Home Islands. Much supply is on Formosa and more en route to support the bombers. Smaller aircraft are also being removed from the mainland but in lesser numbers so far. A good measure of supply that is already on the mainland but has been tied to air bases should begin to flow to the troops.

At Singapore we still have >800k supply even after shipping out much. Some convoys from Cape Town have been rerouted to skip Singapore and make directly for Hong Kong. Stacking at Hong Kong is still >180,000 (well under the limit) including two Command HQ, and removal of those forces to Formosa is still underway. The next pickup will include the two Command HQ in hopes of allowing supply to flow away from Singapore.

Further progress the last redoubt on Formosa, but slow going.

~400k supply ashore at Kushiro. Lost a bunch more Hellcats from the CVE escorting rogue DB, so just topped off all the CVE fighter groups from Kushiro! With 5x large AE in port (plenty more ammo ships coming) also reloaded main guns on an old BB TF. 64 air support and 348 naval support at Kushiro, plus 81 shore party. 676 aircraft at the field, meaning there is a long way to go to fit them all even with a number of them being flying boats. It appears that an IJN sub which made an appearance laid mines at Kushiro, but we have plenty of mine sweepers on duty.

The two divisions to invade Hakodate are 1 hex SE of Kushiro and their convoys have just refueled. The day after tomorrow they will move in and land behind several old battleship bombardments. Now that we've confirmed we can rearm BB guns at Kushiro, Hakodate is going to get pummeled. I've combined the two convoys (was one for each division) and added CB Alaska. It's a 44 ship convoy so a little unwieldy, but well led and should provide protection against the fortress at Hakodate. Two large destroyer TF are inbound to Kushiro and will patrol into Hakodate and Muroran beginning day after tomorrow (same day the invasion force moves on Hakodate).

Kochi on Shikoku will be the next major Home Islands operation. Even though we will push out from there as far as we can, the real objective is to secure the airbase and build it to size 9, primary initial use as a fighter base. Stacking limit is 50,000 and we are allocating 5 divisions plus some armor, artillery, and an HQ (possibly two). Preparation is just beginning at 33% for most units so estimate ~60+ days from now.

Kumamoto on Kyushu will come shortly after Kochi.

Tsu on Honshu is after that and will primarily be a Commonwealth operation, the last two targets mentioned being primarily American. Tsu and on to Gifu will be a big operation.

Akita and Hachinohe on Honshu will be the objectives of forces currently assigned to Hokkaido (including some in reserve on Formosa).

We have a division and an armored unit assigned to Tokara Retto, the closest island to the Okinawas. It can be built to size 5 and extend fighter range.

The changes in damage at Nagasaki/Sasebo, Fukuoka, and Kagoshima although visible are small, so I'm not posting pics.
