All cheers to the Cpt! It was a good game, and I learned a lot too, especially what to expect in 1942

. Next time I am digging in and waiting it out for a minor victory.
Three things are really clear from this game for me. First, I spent too much time trying to make pockets which Flamm busted out of with depressing ease. The German probably needs to conserve force and push Soviets back by threat of pockets, but not actually close them. Second, Finns are a weakness - Flamm hammered them into the ground in a way I don't recall being so easy in 1.03. (this was one of the first 1.04 games). Should have dug in after clearing Leningrad. Third, there's a lot to learn about airforces which I don't get
However, this game confirms for me that it's unbalanced in 1942 -- Flamm's offensives up north (which, when they broke through was the reason for my capitulation since there was nothing left to throw into the hole), seem too easy. The Soviets need (for this to be a contest) to have to choose between defence vs powered up Germans OR offensive. That would give it more flavour of choice.
But, please don't read this as a criticism - Flamm, Monsieur Le Captain, is a seriously good player

(or I am pretty average, or both!)
