seems to be the calm before the coming storm.
presume from your list of disbands you have started to garrison your prepared rear lines?
Yes, I have now entered the first of the lines in front of Rumania.

Turn 155
Overall
First the good news. Our spies report that Zhukov has been killed. The bad news on the other hand is that we will lose a division, as the USSR now makes as good progress as we did in -41. 34 USSR attacks resulted in 12 helds and 22 retreats, while our 5 attacks all resulted in retreats.
Losses
USSR : ??.000 troops, ?? guns, ?? AFVs, ??? AC.
Axis : ??.000 troops, ?? guns, ?? AFVs, ??? AC.
German units disbanded
4 Fortified Zones.
Partisans
We kill all 8.

Between November 44 T-177 and Febarary 45 T-192 you will receive a positive 57 divisions in just 15 turns.
If you can be some wheres near Posen by then you have a chance as these units alone could form a line of 2 deep with a 2nd of one deep.
SHC rifle Corps can only hit the first line because of MP's, if your line is double stacked in forts with reserve reaction units in the back.
Not sure how the truck issue is impacting your game, but if there are any issue's the should be having and impact now as SHC army is above 9 million.
It will for sure come Dec-March

A word of advice on Rumania. Be very careful with your German units when the Rumanian surrender is imminent. I would get every German unit out of Rumania just prior to its surrender. Once all the Rumanian hexes flip to Soviet you could end up with your remaining German units pocketed. I learned this the hard way - twice. Additionally the Rumanian rail lines will flip to Soviet so your opponents advance will not slow down due to lack of supply through Rumania. This is a very tricky balancing act for the Germans. Good luck!
Also, there is a Rumanian city near the border with Hungary (I foget the name right now). You need to garrisson that as well or Hungary could surrender also - see Disgruntled Veteran's AAR concerning that. He had to deal with both minor allies surrendering at the same time.

The name if the city is Arad- put one regiment in the city.
Dave dave dave have you not learnt anything?
A word of advice
GOOD advice use my simple little trick.
1. Form a line of German units from Hunland to Bulgaria as per my screen shot.
2. When your ready to dump Romania leave a single regiment in the cap push all Romania units to front.
3. leave a town or 2 open in north part of Romania.
4. Russians take town, country flips, all of Romania behind GHC Hun/Bul line is surrounded so the next phase all the land flips to GHC control other then 2 stacks of units which you capture during GHC turn.
5. All GHC units are withen easy supply from Bulgaria or Hunland.
Yes a sweet little trick of the trade.
Good advice is better then bad advice

I doubt it tbh. Seems the USSR advance is just too swift for me to be around come February...

Turn 156
Overall
Not much to tell really, the USSR strikes out, isolate a few of my infantry divisions (as I am unable to really hold a line at this time), and push me out of my forts with one attack.
We made no attacks, while the USSR launched 77, causing 24 helds, 1 scouted, 51 retreats and 1 surrender.
Losses
USSR : 53.000 troops, 698 guns, 121 AFVs, 462 AC.
Axis : 69.000 troops, 1.416 guns, 103 AFVs, 145 AC.
German units destroyed
327th Infantry Division, 4/55th SP Flak Company, 4/31st SP Flak Company.
German units disbanded
15 Fortified Zones.
Partisans
Both were killed.

Too far behind it seems... Might be merging of brigades/divisions into corps perhaps...

keeping them static to minimise truck losses? Both by not moving things that are not immediately needed and keeping them on a repaired portion of the rail net?
...
or just trying to worry you - the front is so powerful that all this stuff isn't really needed?

Turn 157
Overall
Well, the USSR did a rather big push in the north, trapping some more divisions, and more importantly, forcing me to pull back rather far. We are now just a few hexes away from East Preussia. In the south and centre, we hold for now.
55 USSR attacks gave a result of 20 helds, 32 retreats, 1 rout and 2 surrenders. Our 3 attacks had a better successrate, as all were retreats (gotta take the few bright spots we can [:D]).
Losses
USSR : 57.000 troops, 714 guns, 125 AFVs, 405 AC.
Axis : 82.000 troops, 1.317 guns, 107 AFVs, 133 AC.
German units destroyed
32nd, 79th, 126th, 253rd and the 342nd Infantry Divisions.
280th StuG Brigade.
731st JagdPanzer Battalion.
505th and 655th Pioneer Battalion.
German units disbanded
1 Fortified Zone.
The 1st Infantry Division was merged with the 217th, the 58th was merged with the 121st, the 387th was merged with the 227th, both 383rd and 267th were merged with the 298th, the 252nd merged into the 6th, and finally the 293rd was merged into the 78th Sturm Division. (in total 7 divisions merged away).
Partisans
All 8 were retreated across.

sounds a wee bit pessimistic but I guess you have a better feel for how much resistance you can manage?
My only late game experience is SP and I felt that if the German AI had built a few redoubts and really committed to the defence of major rivers (& the slow speed of forcing the Carpathians) it could have taken me beyond the winter 44-45 and into mud in 45.

Look at the screenshot for T156, the surrounded units in the north were on the frontline at the end of my turn...
My forces offer almost no resistance anymore unless in a lvl3 fort, and then only for one turn I am afraid.

ah, see what you mean, that was an advance of 3-4 hexes depending quite where the front was when it started ...

Yes, 4 hexes is no problem for the USSR to "eat up" in a single turn, and I have too many understrength divisions, so they punch a hole and march in
