US officials confirm sixth Chinese hypersonic manoeuvring strike vehicle test

Keypoints this time:
-The DF-ZF/Wu-14 hypersonic glider moved with Mach 5 instead of Mach 10 as with the five previous tests. This indicates that the speed is variable and would also add to the counter-interception capability of this weapon. The two previous tests provided evidence of this weapon's ability to perform 'extreme manoeuvers' and 'evasive action' at the speeds of Mach 10.
-The possible launch-vehicle was identified to be the Kuaizhou-1/2 series of solid-fuel fast response ORS space rockets, that have a military-grade road-mobile TEL (pictures below).
-According to the US analysts, the fact that this is already the 6th test since early 2014, indicates that the DF-ZF is a very high priority weapon for China, and that we can expect an accelerated development. According to Richard Fisher, China could deploy this weapon by 2020.

China Launched its 8th Type 052D Destroyer while the 4th Started Sea Trials with PLAN

Based on pictures that have been released by Chinese spotters, it appears that the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN or Chinese Navy) fourth Type 052D (NATO reporting name Luyang III class) destroyer started sea trials. In the meantime, another Type 052D was launched on November 28th. It is the 8th vessel in the class and the first one launched at the Dalian naval shipyard (Dalian Shipbuilding Industry Company member of CSIC - China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation).

Chinese Army PLA Commissioned a Logistics Support Ship for South China Sea Islands Support

The Chinese Ministry of Nationa Defense announced that a new logistics support ship of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) began its service in Sansha City, south China's Hainan Province, on the morning of November 23, 2015. The supply ship (hull number GY820) is the largest of its kind in the PLA Army with a maximum displacement of 2,700 tons. The 90 meters long and 14.6 meters wide vessel will be based in the South China Sea region to support replenishment operations.

French Navy Announced Aquitaine Frigate, First Ship of FREMM Class, is Now on Active Duty

The French Navy (Marine Nationale) just announced that the Aquitaine Frigate, first ship of the FREMM class of multi-mission frigates, has now entered "active duty" (admission au service actif in French). As we reported last week, Aquitaine is expected to join the Charles de Gaulle carrier strike group (CSG) in the coming days. This will be the first operational deployment for this new generation frigate.

I think it's a rather interesting point is China never have their own LHA/D in her whole history, is because they never witness the actual ship itself like Wasp or America classes, and they have more trouble to design it than other warships. Even aircraft carrier they build have shortcuts from Ukraine.

So they propose it for export is more likely reflecting PLAN's uncertainty of how exactly they should use with it. Considering they also got Type 071 that could hose 4 helicopters and 4 LCACs could suffice for their current on-shore assault doctrine.

Yep, 4x 16PC2-6B Diesel Engines, which are upgraded engines powering the Type 071 LPDs (designated 16PC2-6A).
They are in turn an upgraded variant of the Type 903 AOR's 16PC2-6 diesels.

New PLAN replenishment ship type emerges



Internet images have appeared showing what may be a new type of replenishment ship under construction for the People's Liberation Army Navy (PLAN).

The location of the shipyard where the vessel is in build is probably in China's southern Guangdong province.

The development is another PLAN move to enhance logistics support for deployed ships.

The class designator for the ship appears to be Type 901. Details are limited at this stage but the ship's estimated dimensions are a displacement of 40,000-45,000 tonnes and a beam of 31.5 m. Although photographs - shown on the cjdby.net website, for example - have only just emerged, the ship is at an advanced state of construction and a launch in early 2016 seems probable.

Construction of a second vessel may already be under way.

And they get the information from the same sources as we amateur spotters, heh.

New attack with Tu-22M3 and Kalibr land-attack cruises missiles to targets in Syria 8 December 2015.
Something of ridiculous:
- The Tu-22M3 based in Mozdok, Northern Ossetia (a reactivated Long Range Aviation base) are keeping in attacks with dumb iron bombs. Their air-to-surface missiles are probably too old (their rocket engines) to be used, and they are uncapable of use more modern smart bombs (and probably in few weeks Russia will exhaust his stocks of smart bombs and will quit Syria).

What is interesting , all assumes that project 636.3 is exact copy of Vietnam 636M with only two TT able to fire
Kalibr missiles, but on this video "Rostov-on-Don" launch minimum four missiles salvo:

There is no hull visible when submarine fire missiles

At 0:18, fourth salvo of missile emerged from the surface of sea. Only this one is a confirmed submerged launch.

However, depth is nowhere to be determined at whole footage. My guess is in periscope depth, from the look of the angle of missile launches. The deeper the sub, the higher angle the missile emerges.

My comment comes from the original The Aviationist comments to the footage, I was not in time to check it (perhaps also motivated by the propaganda stunt).
