14th Ku T-1 arrives at Kwajalein Island – Mavis patrol takes 50 experience pilots but I only have a few Mavis aircraft in the pools. It will take a while to fill this group out with planes but they are the only Mavis group allowed to take replacements.
14th Ku T-1 Det arrives at Kwajalein Island – converted to Mavis and recombined with the above.
14th Ku S-1 arrives at Makin – a Rufe group. Fighter pilots with experience in the 70s are assigned and 8 of the 9 aircraft this group can take are issued. I’m only producing 1 Rufe per day so it will take a few months to fill out the Rufe groups already on the map, with a couple more to arrive shortly. It’s good to get some more IJN fighter training groups.
Here's the current state of the IJN Fighter force sorted by average group experience.
KB is about half full of 80+ experience pilots with 22 more in the pool waiting to join KB groups once it docks.
Of those 22 pilots, 6 are aces and one is the current leading ace CPO Isozaki who is on 9 all from the earlier battles over PNG.
Morale is low in a few of the KB airgroups. Those pilots mustn't like flying range 7 CAP every day, but they are nearly back at Truk where I will give those groups a few days of stand down.
