Request for Iran Air Force Mirage F.1EQs,

The Iranians found the 24 Mirage F.1EQs delivered to them by Iraqi pilots in 1991 in 'brand new' condition, all newly refurbished and brought to the standard F.1EQ-6. Consequently, the IRIAF - after some evaluation and training of needed crews - pushed its new Mirages into service from 1993. A French offer for 50 additional Mirage F.1CTs and 1.000 R.550 Magic Mk.II and Super 530D missiles - issued in 2002 - was turned down, however.

Suggestions for both the CWDB and the DB3000. These will probably be fairly easy to add, so I hope they can be added sooner rather than later…

High Value Target (Group) (Generic) <-- this is basically an unarmed group of people on foot. It can probably be modeled using the data for an infantry platoon, but taking out the weapons, radios, etc. (I suggested “Civilians” earlier, but this would be even more general; one could use it to represent ANY group of unarmed individuals, even a herd of sheep, if one wanted. Hey, it’s high-value to the guy who owns the sheep!) This would allow for refugees, hostages, zoo animals, etc. All you have to do is set the name with the "r" command.

High Value Target (Individual) (Generic) <-- Just use the downed pilot, but take out the radio. This allows one to represent high value unarmed individual targets on foot who really is on his own or dependent on others for protection. They can be good guys (VIPs, etc.) who need to be protected or bad guys (terrorists, drug lords, etc.) who need to be taken out. All you have to do is set the name with the "r" command.

God I hope I am in the right thread.

I have a MAD question about Il-38. What would be (or maybe still is?) its max. MAD detection range. I have had several successful detections from 610m, can they do that? The scenario where this occurs is "Red episodes-Boomer to the sea", so I hope it's not just mission specific. Also, the detected subs were around -250m (give or take 30m because of varying sea bottom) [:)].
In the unit description dialog does 1nm represent just the area (circle around the plane) or is depth also included?

The latter; sensors perform their detection checks using slant ranges rather than simply horizontal.

Thanks for quick response and enlightenment about MAD range [&o]. Been trying to figure this out ever since I started this damn mission.

Need a little advice though [:)], what would be the recommended altitude to fly ASW, MAD capable planes such as IL-38 or Orion?

ASW aircraft fitted with MAD almost never use it as a search sensor. Almost always you search by other means (usually sonobuoys, dipping sonar or radar) and then use MAD on a low-as-possible pass to get a final localization fix before dropping weapons. So the initial search altitude varies with the characteristics of the search sensor(s).

The Izumo is in, check the RC1 of v1.03.

Besides ELINT the X-47B seems to lack any air-to-ground detection systems - either optical or radar. I flew it over a Slava CG and a Very Large Building repeatedly without being able to see them with it. It was able to see SA-N-6 SAMs coming toward it with it's IRST.

I Saw in the DB that there are new entries for the LRASM, in particular, one that is Air Launched. Which platforms will be using those? Will any ships have the surface ones in loadout by default?

Two minor things that are incorrect:
1. NUR-31 (#2150) is a 2D radar (distance+azimuth only) and always works in pair with NUR-41 (height finder - #2151) to get the 3D capabilities.
2. Bryza 1R bis (#3341) - only 1 unit was built (db description states "7x") and the ASW loadout is missing (10 x AN/SSQ-62 DICASS sonobuoys - the same type as on SH-2G Seasprites).

Hey there! The air-launched LRASM will most likely be established upon the B-1 Lancer, F-35 Lightning II, F/A-18D/E Super Hornet (as it appears in the concept animation of Lockheed Martin) and maybe the EA-18G Growler too. No, the LRASM isn't featured at any surface platform as I noticed so far.

Well was hoping for official answer to confirm that maybe sometime in near future, American F-35s would be a step closer to complete armament list. Oh well, at least they are in DB

BTW

Lockheed Martin recently conducted a test in which an LRASM hit a moving ship. Along the way, it followed preplanned waypoints, currently there is no way to order LRASMs to follow preplanned way points

Flying over the Sea Range at Point Mugu, Calif., a U.S. Air Force B-1B bomber from the 337th Test and Evaluation Squadron at Dyess Air Force Base, Texas, released the LRASM, which navigated through all planned waypoints receiving in-flight targeting updates from the Weapon Data Link. After transitioning to autonomous guidance, LRASM identified the target using inputs from the onboard sensors. The missile then descended for final approach, verified and impacted the target.

the JASSM can be programmed to follow waypoints as well as to impact a target from a certain bearing and angle.

Dont know how much of a priority that will be, but it will probably be something to be built into the strike editor when that happens, seeing as how it is not something you can edit from the cockpit anyway.
