She traded blows with the big boys and came out ahead, I think....her sister ship kept fighting, and a fresh heavy cruiser force broke her, sadly.

Excellent retelling of the action.

Will the KB turn and attack or stand and cover the retreating wounded warships?
Prudance would be to cover and maybe cap trap some splintered carrier strikes.

All those Allied ships have to rearm, plus the 5 retreating ships where the Pennsylvania are have to head east as well. Most likely two more heavily damaged battleships are there...

The Kongo's are fresh, but I never like using them against American heavy Cruisers.

What an exciting day and an excellent telling of the events. As one of those who live the war when I play the game, I'm enjoying your war and especially your detailing of it. Thanks!

Thanks for the kind word guys, much appreciated.

Got the turn done much earlier, but I suspect it might be a while for the Allies finish their turn.

Good potential for lots of carnage with the next turn too!

One of the great little details from the last round was several American warships had to flood their magazines or the magazines got flooded, and the ship ceased firing. Should have put that detail in the posts...

So far you came out ahead even though the KB didn't make it's force felt. I am wondering about the small American carrier attacks, maybe one or more are damaged beyond flight operations? It might be worth a gamble to bring the KB screaming in to sink the many damaged American vessels and get a shot at the American carriers if they hang around.

A little late at Adak, but the AMcs sweep lots of mines, but you can hear the CD guns firing...but not that frequently. Hopefully some live to sweep later.

Adak, of my dreams, how sweet it is to see lady Lex and Saratoga![:D] With no fighters today...and it looks to be only some heavy cruisers to worry about at Umnak - and 220 Allied fighters.[;)]

The new face of American surface action groups at Umnak...

I would tangle with her at night any day of the week, and count myself lucky. A daytime fight though would be tough...but I don't think the ships could fight multiple fights and flee back to the safety of Umnak's air umbrella.

We cleared about 175 mines at Adak yesterday, but those pesky cd guns took a pound of flesh. Lost 2 subs at Umnak to mines, and one destroyer at Adak.

By far and away the Allies best weapon this war has been his mines.

Just to show that it is possible to get a IJA division to fort 5 in a non base hex. The troopers aren't happy, look at that morale...they just don't like shovels.[:D] That, and the fact the rice is being diverted to Ichang to support the bombing of Chungking, which is really dwindling in AV each day now.

That's some epic entertainment, my friend! Maybe I missed it, but has your opponent lost a lot of DDs? If it were me, I'd be creating smaller SAGs with at least 1 DD per heavy unit. I hate to see DMSs used in that way, but maybe he has no choice.

Cheers,
CB

You mean this division did nothing and stayed in place for like 4-5 months? Do you really have this kind of luxury in 42 China?
Also, did it build while divided into A/B/C? If not, this would challenge my understanding of how forts are built by large LCUs
